Florida going to $15/hr. Disgusting. Lots of local businesses are already talking about cutting staff and increasing prices.
$30,000 a year plus benefits? What else can you expect? Higher prices. layoffs and automation. Youbetcha!
Florida going to $15/hr.

Florida current rate = $8.65 rate of increase = $0.09ยข
only CA is going to $15 minimum
The real minimum wage is zero if you don’t have a job.
“Lots of local businesses are already talking about cutting staff and increasing prices.”
Plenty of businesses will cut staff or replace marginal employees hired at a low pay rate with a better caliber of worker becoming available to them due to higher base wages.
Whwn market forces are removed from the wage equation then result is always the same, the most unskilled ie the ones who need their jobs the most and have so few opportunities to work due to their lack of skill will pay the heaviest price.
The government doesn’t pay for it dictates their subjects do.
During every wave of inflation the rich/rulers gain and the subjects loose.

It won’t be $15 until 2026. It will raise to $10, and then $1 a year until it gets to $15. I hope they have time to find a way to stop it before it gets that high.
I voted against it, but I knew it would pass. I think we are at $8.56. We are one of the lowest over the $7.50 federal rate. It’s really their own fault. If they made any effort to raise it to a reasonable amount like $10.00, it probably wouldn’t have gotten on the ballot or passed.
