Up to half of health care workers in some parts of California are refusing to take the coronavirus vaccine, despite scientific evidence that it is safe, leading to a potential surplus of doses and renewed questions about the system for allocating them.

Same in OH and Houston!
About 1/3 in E. Tenn. Hospitals
First, what % of that % are front line medical people like Nurses/Doctors/inhalation therapists and people who have contact with sick patients!
Are the refusers, admin people, who are never near a patient.
How many of those refusing the vaccine have had the CV19 and now have immunity?
Again, the stupid broad stroke idiots in charge, could have been testing the medical people a couple of weeks ago to see if they are immune. Then, offer the vaccine to those who are not immune.
But no, they try to herd everyone into the same batch/herd.
despite scientific evidence that it is safe

Scientific evidence, in this day and age, is nothing more than political science. Who paid for it? What is the political agenda? Who benefits? Who is made to look bad? All of the new criteria that is expected to be part of the conclusion that will be revealed by an independent study.
What results do you want and how much are you willing to pay?
Scientific evidence now goes along with other oxymoron’s of military intelligence and an unbiased court system of justice
Can't fool me with that BS line. They used to put formaldehyde in milk a century ago and people were told that line.
For the last ten years I couldn’t work as a nurse without a flu shot. There were always some religious kooks and health fanatics that would try to get out of it. Usually the wackos can find some quack who for a hundred dollars would write them an excuse. They cracked down on the phony religious exemptions. One had to prove that they were a member of a real religion that forbids vaccination. It couldn’t be something you made up after reading Popular Mechanics. This is a settled issue. This is the life and the job you chose. They will figure it out when they swipe their name badge and nothing happens. This isn’t about you.
Dr Li-meng Yan on Bannon this AM might differ with you on the vaccine.
It is their choice not to take the immunization. If that is their choice and they do catch COVID then their insurance companies should refuse to pay their medical bills for that sickness.
Furthermore, after the vaccine is wide spread, health providing and health care facilities should stop hiring staff who make the choice not to take this preventative care.
This should also hold true for all situations where a lot of people are in close proximity to each other, IE, Cruise ship workers and passengers, Airplane crew and passengers, and Train crew and passengers.
If you think there is no precedent for this do some research on TB patients who refuse to take their meds.
Not to mention, it’s downright impossible to have ANY scientific evidence about the long-term safety of a vaccine that was just invented.
How right you are.

The United States FDA has made the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine available under an emergency access mechanism called an EUA. The EUA is supported by a Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) declaration that circumstances exist to justify the emergency use of drugs and biological products during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine has not undergone the same type of review as an FDA-approved or cleared product. FDA may issue an EUA when certain criteria are met, which includes that there are no adequate, approved, available alternatives.
In addition, the FDA decision is based on the totality of scientific evidence available showing that the product may be effective to prevent COVID-19 during the COVID-19 pandemic and that the known and potential benefits of the product outweigh the known and potential risks of the product. All of these criteria must be met to allow for the product to be used in the treatment of patients during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The EUA for the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine is in effect for the duration of the COVID-19 EUA declaration justifying emergency use of these products, unless terminated or revoked (after which the products may no longer be used).
“If you think there is no precedent for this do some research on TB patients who refuse to take their meds.”
That might be a precedent for how we treat people who have an actual illness, but it can’t be a precedent for how we treat healthy people who don’t have an illness.
The smart ones will refuse.
With sterility as a listed side-effect, you’d have to be nutz to take the jab....
Well, they are the pros that deal with this from all aspects. They must have a different take on that.
You will find out when you are working triple shifts ... all they have to do is quit or be fired and you will make scads of overtime pay.
There was evidence the hymalayas would melt by 2020. I still have the peer reviewed scientific aryicle
What time zone are they in.
“religious kooks and health fanatics”
God forbid a hospital employee would actually eat properly, maintain their immunity naturally and be an example to their patients. And God forbid they be a good Christian who thinks that injecting crap into a healthy person is neither treatment nor prevention nor healthy. A friend of mine who works at a major local hospital told me about all the stupid fat nurses who laughed at her for packing a healthy lunch, not drinking soda, and not being a fat person herself. Incidentally, she said that most of the patients she has watched over for years are fat, and don’t seem interested in changing that they are fat. And they all seem to have digestive disorders. Some of these same people ridiculed her because she wore a mask instead of taking the seasonal flu shot.
Yeah. I guess I’m with the health fanatics over the food addicted fat people. One would think that nurses would be health fanatics as well, given that they work in health care. But that makes too much sense. Lol!

Boom! haha.
As of this post, you’re officially one of my favorite FReepers!
Front-line ‘surplus’ of vaccines that are shelflife sensitive? Democrat-heavy front-line staff who accused Trump of being a murderer with their fancy banners and demonstrations now refusing vaccines themselves?
We don’t have time to hand-hold and cajole people who play games. State-wide, one-time, 3-hour jab session in the morning per hospital (about 450 of them). If you’re a no, get into the line over there for waiver signatures. If you want the vaccine later, you can pay for it out of pocket.
By late afternoon, if a hospital has ‘extra’ because of employee refusal, dispatch those doses to the nursing homes associated with that hospital. The next day, repurpose the drive-in testing sites for drive-in jabs (we’ve tested 2/3rds of the pop enough already), authorize CVS and Walgreens to drive-in jab, and get the innoculating of 65-75yo’s and 75+not-in-nursing homes done now. Tens of thousands of high-risk can be innoculated by dinner time every day. It’s not rocket science.
As usual, California and California medical staff are wasting money we don’t have and time we don’t have. For political reasons and misguided smugness of morally superior idiots.
