Yet people are still being tested for covid. There is very little differentiation between the two for a layman or an expert. What makes you think someone will not get tested for covid when presenting flu-like symptoms? I disagree with your hypothesis.

Mom needed an ER visit just before Christmas to be rehydrated (instant mom, just add water...) since she was symptomatic and had tested negative for both flus in circulation, they wouldn't release her without a COVID test.
It came back positive Sunday. The nully hacienda is now under quarantine until 1/10/21.
Quarantine the sick, protect the vulnerable, free everyone else.
