Why the Defeatism?
American Thinker.com ^ | December 31, 2020 | J. Robert Smith

Millions of patriots have fight in them as the country confronts the greatest threat to the Republic since the Civil War. Historic elections fraud, centered on the presidential contests, involving gross criminality make it so.

Whereas many patriots are ready to fight to restore the rule of law and our liberties, others express gloom and defeat. The fix is in, they claim. Should Trump retain the White House, perhaps there’s a chance to stave off scheming globalists, ruthless leftists, and jaded establishment factions, though that comes with a steep price: national convulsions. If Trump doesn’t secure a second term, then all is lost, they bemoan. The powerful cabal that Biden fronts will run the board over 48 months. A long, dark night will descend on America.

Here’s a modest proposal: Wars aren’t over until they’re fought. Assuredly, victories aren’t givens, but, most often, neither are defeats. And it isn’t unheard of that the victors are underdogs. So, if you consider Patriot America – better than half by my reckoning -- the underdog in this fight, don’t give up -- or as Sam Adams once enjoined, “Nil Desperandum.”

--snip--

Should Trump leave the presidency in January, we may find that his leadership is even greater in opposition. Call it the law of unintended consequences. Biden’s puppeteers may rue the day that Trump was unleashed from the duties and confines of the executive office. Having said that, from this vantage point, it’s better that Trump remain president. Better to have the powers and resources that a president commands in the fights ahead. But either way, we fight, because we must.

Agree with the comment about defeatism. I see plenty of iut here. The “what’s the use” crowd.

It is sickening and I am amazed these people cannot see their response is exactly the one the Left is hoping for.

I personally am in it until President Trump says he will surrender, but I fully understand why so many conservatives say “The fix is in”.

I feel that “The fix is in” as well. It doesn’t mean it can’t be overcome, that is always possible.

The discouraging part of that is not that President Trump may have to admit defeat, the crushingly discouraging part of it is to realize that there was even a “fix” that was being considered, and that some group put “the fix in”.

The near absolute silence from elected officials on the Republican side is evidence to many that many of them who SHOULD speak up, won’t do so because it might rock the boat in some way and either upset a political and/or financial gravy train, or threaten the exposure of the politician in some way.

Before 2018, I didn’t fully embrace the concept of the “Deep State” (though I didn’t discount it) but since then, I have come to accept its existence as a reality. That has been difficult for me.

Agreed. Atmosphere has become poisoned. And they get mad if anyone differs.

If we don’t win this fight, this country should never again send American observers to monitor elections in third-world countries to ensure free and fair elections. They would be laughed and booted out.

There is only one way to defeat what is coming and that is the step no one will take.

I am fed up with this "Y'all oughta do something!" crap. Exactly what do you expect us to do? We have to work to pay bills, we are NOT the welfare crowd who gets checks (sometimes several) every month no matter what. How in the world are we supposed to fight this evil system? Huh?

Someone, somewhere, keeps calling for us to "do something". When the BLM and Antifa folks rioted, the Democrats in charge did nothing. If one of us does one little thing, we will be pounced upon and an example made of us, I guarantee it. When I get communication from 100 people who want to meet me at the next school board meeting of a given district to back me up when I tell them they must change the way they are teaching and discipling students, THEN I WILL do something dramatic.

In fact, I would like to form an organization of folks, who on a call, will show up to face down school boards. I am serious. Also want to form a Buyer's Union to overcome some of the deceit by companies when selling products. If people would actually get together, it is amazing what can be done. Well, anyone ready to communicate with me?

Send me a private message and let's get this going. Otherwise, it is all a deceit.

Ok..with all respect, not being argumentative, just curious...what do you suggest now?

Seriously, we've just seen our 1st amendment/constitution trampled. Equal justice denied, rule of law shredded, American election perverted, innocent men railroaded, deep state/ferrule government agencies weaponized against citizens, Communist Chinese deeply infiltrating every segment of American society/government, greatest transfer of wealth in world history from the middle class to China, assaults on religious liberty, flooding our country with the poorest of the poor, imminent assault on 2nd amendment rights, destruction of our economy through climate sham, government spending us into hyperinflation, 30 Trillion national debt/150%+ debt to GDP ratio...ok...that's enough, but I could continue.

Vote vote vote these scoundrels out of office. Write/call your representatives, rally man..rally on D.C. damn it!

No one is listening.

Now, back to my original question. What do you suggest?

what do you suggest now?

Simply to never quit fighting....ever.

In other words take a lesson from our president.

Can you or anyone else with 2 functioning brain cells claim doing NOTHING is better than curling up in a ball and sucking your thumb?

It is not defeatism it is reality and time to start thinking outside the box.

Amen. I have no confidence in voting anymore. The left owns the infrastructure of this country. The culture, the media, entertainment, academia, and even sports. I’m in, not giving up, but where’s the path?

For reasons like many here, I’ve shut off Fox and all the like. Even a few good ones just talk and have guests that reiterate what the left has and is doing wrong or illegal, fine. But they never talk about potential strategies to win, or remedy. It’s all commiserating. Can’t listen to it.

Where’s the fix? They get away with illegal emails, false witness at a SCOTUS hearing, fake Russia hoax, and fixing an election. They’re enabled, what and who is going to stop them now? And I’m supposed to jump in my chair with every Jim Hoft post?

Here's an interesting thread on the same vein worthy I think of our time.

MeneMeneTekelUpharsin poses hard questions in his reply that require answers. As you know, mine is that we must change our culture and our epistemology if we are to save ourselves. Only then can we rise up in righteous revolt.

The article talks about the patriots in 1775 and I note that these were children of the Enlightenment. In other words, they had an epistemology grounded in reason and capable of coming to rational judgment.

We Conservatives are not temperamentally conditioned to take to the streets in protest and when we do, as we did as The Tea Party, we conscientiously clean up after ourselves, leaving the grounds cleaner than before. This is hardly the stuff of patriots armed with pitchforks ready to rush the seat of government to put things right.

We were taught to put things right by standing in line and voting and we believe we did. We believe we won the vote and now we perceive that we lost the count but we are not quite clear about how to react or what to do about it. We are alone. We get no signals from any institution whatsoever the tell us to take to the streets or even to take to the courts to litigate the situation.

My ancestors knew damn well what to do about it, they knew to take the flintlock down from over the fireplace and go to war. They had a belief system that authorized them to do that. Our institutions are swamps drowning in postmodernism, race theory, critical thinking. They confound us at every turn. The patriots of 1775 were children of the Enlightenment, we are groping in the dark with no compass and no North star.

It is defeatism when the response is, “what’s the use” and “we’ve already lost”

There is no other word for it.

OK...... Here is what we do..

1) We need to identify the enemy. Write your congresscritters and find out if they are for or against us.

2) Realize that the republicans ARE THE ENEMY, and stop championing them blindly. Remove your identification as a republican. The freedom you gain from not being forced to vote for one, no matter how repulsive, is refreshing.

3) Vote in every election. Write in every candidate. This forces them to manually tabulate your vote. Pisses them off.

4) Do petition drives to force recalls of government officials that are deemed the enemy. The only word that strikes fear into a politician is “Recall”...

The intent of the framers was to keep all politics local.
Start there...

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

It's all been done partner. Besides, time is on their side. Once elected they gain power/committee positions as incumbents, it's almost impossible to unseat them. Think about it...many have been in D.C. for 20-30-40 years.

Sorry, but your suggestions are just more of what got us here to begin with. Confidence in the system working. It's just not.

Furthermore, not all states have recall processes in which to remove corrupt/inept politicians.

The intent of the framers only applies when those who come after them abide by the constitution...I submit, they've abandoned the constitution. I mean seriously, it is blatantly obvious the federal government is lost.

It is obvious the constitution is merely a cliche up in D.C.. These people for the most part couldn't give a rats @$$ about our founding documents. Evidence after evidence of politicians doing, enacting laws/rules/policy that so goes against our founding principals..yet they march on touting...the constitution says...blah blah blah.

Hate to sound so negative, but damn, after being beatin about the head and neck politically speaking for decades...after awhile it's just all sounds like...whah whah whah. Kinda like the whole Charlie Brown teacher thing.
