As the superintendent presiding over “the largest cheating scandal in 44 years” you’d think that both he and the commandant would be looking at being relieved for “lack of confidence”. Other officers have been relieved for being lax.

You are applying logic from a time when this country, and the Academy, represented a very different institutions. When you have meaningless “endless wars”, often the best & brightest start to avoid the military; they understand it no longer has anything to do with protecting us so much as exporting liberalism abroad. Sadly much of the military is an employer of last resort for many otherwise unemployable people.

That pretty much explains why the honor code and discipline were suspended from West Point. They probably were suspended for at least one cadet decades earlier.

Every single one of the students should’ve been immediately suspended and then kicked out. Allowing them to stay for any reason, especially because they’re on the football team, it’s outrageous and stains the reputation of the school. Maybe the school should consider shutting down their football team for a few years or permanently. It is definitely not essential for the school mission.

theses cadets should all be removed from west point and have to serve as enlisted for the remainder of there service. for every one of them going to school at west point there are 20 trying to get in. Anyone willing to cheat at west point can not be trusted to lead men into combat situations. We as a nation depend on are officer corp too have higher standard of behavior and to internalize things like integrity. the willingness to cheat to achieve a goal is indicative of an officers willingness to not fallow illegal orders, there willingness to hand over control to civilian authority and understanding that it might mean standing against that civilian control when there control is counter to the constitutional restraints that are in place.
