I like Larry, but he and his experts have been wrong before. In this instance he wrongly claims that the House will not debate and will toss the objection in 30 seconds. From what I’ve read, that’s not true. Based on past precedent, any motion to table debate in the House is not allowed.
Just supposing Trump weathers the storm and remains in office for another 4 years, and just supposing Mitch completely destroys his career in the process and loses his position as Senate majority leader, who would be a good candidate to replace him? Josh Hawley? He’s young, but who cares? He’s more trustworthy than most of the others I can think of. Tom Cotton? Marsha Blackburn? If it had to be someone from the old guard, I’m thinking maybe Ron Johnson. He’s far from perfect, but he seems to be solidly in Trump’s camp and would be preferable to Rand Paul or Ted Cruz..
