poke a hole thru the chest wall, a tube “thoracostomy” to drain chest air and/or fluids thru a small tube
unless he had some kind of pericarditis from fluid under the lining of his heart and they did a pericardial window which is cutting a small piece of the lining out for drainage but that is real surgery right there
