On Tuesday’s broadcast of “CNN Tonight,” Sen.-Designate Alex Padilla (D-CA) stated that the large amount of coronavirus cases in California is due to “COVID fatigue,” people “getting a little too comfortable,” in addition to people traveling to and from states that are less restrictive.

Of course the reality of 50-70% of the recent Covid~19 ICU patients in California are illegal aliens, who probably were sick w/CV when they illegally crossed the borders is not a factor.
Wait, isn't that the same argument dem states use to explain their high rates of gun crimes? It comes from the state next door.

More masks/confinement, less fresh air and sunshine should fix things!

Do you not believe COVID fatigue is a thing? Prevention fatigue is a well documented phenomenon seen in health care workers, HIV+ and at risk groups.
We’re tired of the masks, we’re tired of social distancing. We’re tired of lockdowns although GA isn’t in that situation. As an essential worker, I haven’t had a break from it. At this point I am numb but I am also frustrated by those who won’t do the basics of mask wearing and social distancing. Why wear a mask if you pull it down to talk to me or when you are around other people? Why go somewhere a mask is required and refuse to wear one?
It’s tiresome and you can just go out in public and see people are not taking precautions like they used to. And that feeds the pandemic, prolonging our misery. The vaccines are a step but only a step and need high rate of acceptance.
So, all of the illegals living 25 to a house have nothing to do with the spread?
Just people not following the governmental mandates is what is causing the “spike”.

Padilla is a liar. The two problem areas are LA and the San Joaquin Valley, which means Hispanics who account for nearly 60% of all cases in California (where I live). They’re not traveling to other states; it’s the back and forth to/from Mexico and the Central American triangle. Plus they’re crammed on top of each other, 10-15 or more in multigenerational living conditions, mostly small apartments or houses. Governor Greaseball yesterday extended the latest lockdown indefinitely. LA area hospitals have begun rationing emergency care, with the elderly targeted for exclusion. In less than 10 months the once Golden State has become Venezuela.

Perhaps we’re tired of politicians enforcing unjustified and ineffective virus protocols.
I tested positive for Covid on Dec 2, fortunately my symptoms were pretty mild and I'm back 100% now. I was diligent about wearing the mask, my employer demanded it and I did as demanded but still got the virus. I also complied with the social distancing rules. A relative is an OCD type who was obsessed with wearing her mask, wiping down every surface around her, and constantly using hand sanitizer. She still got the virus.
Masks are, at best, only marginally effective in the fight against the virus. I'm not going to say they don't help, but they don't help a whole lot. A lot of the pushback from people against the draconian measures are because we're getting yelled at and treated like children over policies that many of us realize just don't work.
Thank you for the link. I don’t any specific breakout of “illegals” in the totals, but it sounds like someone (you?) did some sort of statistical analysis to take a guess at it.
NY locked down everything last year and people fled to surrounding states for months. When they returned, the cases changed. How dumb doesCA have to be to not understand what was going to happen.

Mask, social distancing, etc., remind me of the scrap metal drives during WWII. It was later admitted that the drives produce a minimal amount of useable metal but they did raise morale by providing a way for people to believe they were contributing to the war effort.
People hate not being in control. Those virus protocols, ie, masks, etc., provide several useful purposes. First, they give people the sense that they have some control over the virus. Those protocols also allow some to claim the moral high ground, ie, ‘I care about you so I wear a mask.’.
Another useful purpose is that provide similar benefits to the politicians that mandate the masks. They also allow politicians to shift the blame for new case, ie, ‘You wouldn’t be sick if you’d done what I told you to do.’.
Other than that, those protocols are not all that effective. Handwashing would save more lives.
