So a ‘Thanksgiving covid outbreak’ would be fly-in vacationers being seen as infecting year-round “islanders”. Both groups are insular and exclusive of ‘outsiders’. Popcorn time.
Last summer my brother commented about the paranoia and hostility. Islanders routinely bad-mouthed Trump for not flying in and staffing mobile MASH units -as a precaution. The cottage hospital is for the “islandahs”

Interesting history about Nantucket. Said before Amazon and Exxon, Nantucket was the premiere economic powerhouse for a century as they were the ONLY source of whale oil which was used for lighting lamps from America to Europe, before the advent of gasoline. It takes 2-3 years on-ship just to get the whale oil.
