I think they had the votes to override him.. So he waited for awhile and signed it.. I would have pocket vetoed and waited till Jan when the house is closer to republican take over then get a better bill...

Agree. I just don't understand why he didn't either sit on it (pocket veto), or just veto now and force the GOPe pukes into the uncomfortable position of overriding it.

What he did appears to be the WORST possible option, unless there is something else going on we don't know about and he is 100% certain he's going to prevail in the election.

This impounds the $ for 45 days. By then the election garbage is done. There are other ways to stop those line items as he referenced in his communication.

i don’t think the pocket veto timing worked out right. This bill was delivered too early to successfully execute a pocket veto. If it came a day or two later, then a pocket veto would work (10 non-sunday days before Jan 3rd (midnight))
