Trump: I will send back to Congress a redlined version, item by item, accompanied by the formal rescission request to Congress insisting that those funds be removed from the bill.
Thank you.
...and if they are not removed? Did he sign it or not?
This is RIDICULOUS. Mnuchin made Trump look indecisive. He needs to be FIRED for the second term.
He signed it or he sent it back? Or both? If he signed it, how does sending it back with instructions mean anything? Congress can laugh in his face, can’t they?

I don’t get this. Once he signs it he can’t make them take stuff out of it.
The Impoundment Control Act of 1974: What Is It? Why Does It Matter?
I wish more people would read your post before commenting.
And Congress says no. Then what?
Which means absolutely nothing.
The Line Item Veto does not exist at the Presidential level. Every President asks for it (Reagan did all the time), but Congress will NEVER grant that. Budgets and legislation are all, or nothing.
Trump's "request" and "insisting" goes right in the circular file.
If the House and Senate do not vote on the redlined items, they go into effect in 45 days anyway.
