A member of the US Army was charged Sunday in the deadly mass shooting at an Illinois bowling alley — a random attack in which a 14-year-old boy was also shot in the face, according to officials.
Suspect Duke Webb, 37, of Florida faces three counts of murder and three counts of first-degree attempted murder in Saturday’s shooting in Rockford, police and prosecutors said at a press conference Sunday.
Webb is “a current active military member, and we are in contact with the US Army regarding his military status,” Police Chief Dan O’Shea said.
“We believe this was a completely random act and there is no prior meeting or any kind of relationship between the suspect and any of the victims in this case,” O’Shea said.

We won’t count Stephen Paddock, since he was a civilian employee of the Defense Contract Audit Agency.
He got in in 2008. Great Recession. Lots of folks were looking for jobs about then. 25 and fit, willing to fight in the Bush Wars? Sign him up.
Good. Will research to see if these guys were set up to be media faces poster boys for PTSD probs as were so many.
You can add Lee Harvey Oswald and Timothy McVeigh to that list.
You got me on Timmy. But Oswald doesn't make the list - he only killed one. He missed the General completely (a stationary target), and only wounded Connally.
Well, he did kill officer Tibbetts in the movie theater, so that’s two, anyway.
