AB 979 already mandates that corporate boards of publicly held companies headquartered in California boards must appoint at least one director from an “underrepresented community.” That person can self-identify as Black, African American, Hispanic, Latino, Asian, Pacific Islander, Native American, Native Hawaiian or Alaska Native, or gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender.

Board members just need take an Ancestry.com DNA test and someone will will have some kind of minority DNA in them. This way the state can't refute their claim.
