America’s Christmas present is not one but two vaccines for COVID. Operation Warp Speed lived up to its name despite assurances from the media and political smart set that a vaccine would never be available this year.
President Trump promised a vaccine this year but last April, Dr Anthony Fauci, “Poured cold water on Trump's estimate, saying it would be more like a year to a year and a half.” For once the medical and government bureaucracies moved like a hare rather than a tortoise.
After all, it took the Department of Justice 32 years to indict the Lockerbie bombmaker. Given that the median age in the U.S. is 38 years, barely half of Americans were alive at the time of the Lockerbie bombing. Fortunately, the vaccine makers and FDA took closer to 32 weeks rather than 32 years to get something done.
Under the Christmas tree are two vaccines, one from Pfizer and one from Moderna. Both are novel vaccines in that they take an entirely new approach to generating immunity. From the CDC,
mRNA vaccines are a new type of vaccine to protect against infectious diseases. To trigger an immune response, many vaccines put a weakened or inactivated germ into our bodies. Not mRNA vaccines. Instead, they teach our cells how to make a protein—or even just a piece of a protein—that triggers an immune response inside our bodies. That immune response, which produces antibodies, is what protects us from getting infected if the real virus enters our bodies.
It’s ironic that many who would not dare eat a genetically modified apple or tomato are happy to be injected with a vaccine that genetically modifies the person injected.

What is of course ironic is that a virus takes over the cell and and injects mRNA into the cytoplasm where is replicated itself fully. Anyone who has ever had a virus has had what this vaccination does. It’s just this vaccination gives the spike protein
Ironically also is that when we vaccinate with parts of the virus like traditional vaccines the article points out that proteins are made (antibodies). And how are proteins made. That’s right. MRNA to ribosomes and proteins are made
So for everyone freaking out over this you might as well freak out that everyone of your cells does this billions of times a day
Sometimes the fear mongering is exhausting
Why does anyone read the "American Thinker" at this point? Just flat out stupid people.
Yes, exactly. It’s amazing how we have a bunch of “experts” talking about this vaccine and this disease who don’t even know what a virus is to begin with.
And this article says the vaccine will “genetically modify” the person. Just flat out stupid garbage.
This is middle school level biology.
But it’s so much fun to panic and run around spreading false rumors. Truth is boring.....
Anything this blithering weathervane poured cold water on probably got warmer as a result...
How anybody can listen to a word he spews these days is beyond my comprehension. This is an 'expert'????
From the article
It turns out that asymptomatic spread might be a myth. A huge study of 10 million people in Wuhan, the original COVID hot zone, found not rare, but no asymptomatic spread. Zero, zip, nada. Published last month, this article was ignored by the media.
“Follow the science” didn’t apply to this science as it would have ended lockdowns, masks, distancing, and all the socio-economic chaos of the past year.
Based on this study, the issue of whether vaccines stop asymptomatic spread becomes moot. This study should be celebrated, not buried just because it doesn’t fit the narrative of the past year.
The bottom line is that both vaccines are effective at reducing the risk of the recipient becoming ill. It does not matter which vaccine, and it is not likely anyone will be given a choice. The final decision to receive or not receive the vaccine is a personal one, weighing the risks versus benefits. We do this every day, when we decide to ride a bicycle or drive to the grocery store.
Just hang on. It won’t be too long before the the idiot contingency shows up and proclaims the gospel that this will rewrite out DNA.
My personal favorite was the idiot telling me yesterday that mRNA stood for mitochondrial RNA. The general ignorance of basic science is breath taking. And yet.... they all believe their individual expertise because the read stuff in the internet. And tell those of us with expertise and understanding we are wrong.
Do we need a Vaccine for a virus that 99.995 % of the people survive??
It is amusing to see the authorities attempt this massive reverse psychology campaign to sell this vaccine to the public; most people don’t want it (nobody I know personally will take it without seeing the effects on the guinea pigs), so they’re trying to scare people into thinking they might not BE ABLE TO RECEIVE IT. All this nonsense about putting minorities first to address past injustices is more of the same; they are more suspicious of it than us Honky McCrackers...
You have got to be kidding me...
I still don't know that that tops the people that have argued that this vaccine will permanently alter your genome and you will pass that change on to your offspring.
I've also been called "nuts" for suggesting viruses inject their genetic material into your cells and that is how they reproduce and spread the infection in your body.
Again this is middle school level biology. You don't have to have had any formal medical training to know this stuff.
It's all about the narrative. This whole COVID pandemic has shown the right can come up with false narratives vs. facts just as much as the Left can on other issues.
I kid you not. My other favorite was the idiot who wanted peer reviewed evidence it mRNA does not alter DNA. So I sent six references including Watson and Crick. I was told that because I did not publish original articles on the subject I was not qualified to opine.
I guess Watson and Crick are a couple of hicks as well. I have indicated pick up any high school text book and you can read all about it. Can you guess the response. Yup. Not peer reviewed sources.
Most people want to get it. Your comment most people I know won’t get it is just about like everyone on Manhattan who doesn’t know a single conservative. Turn out your world view is not fact.
Since they don’t know what mRNA or DNA even is by such a comment to begin with, I doubt they even know what “peer reviewed” means.
Have you heard discussions about it? It is not a “vaccine” in the sense that it prevents the disease; apparently it minimizes the symptoms. I live in an area with a dwindling number of Americans; nobody trusts these vaccines.
Do you?
I don’t need to hear discussion. I can read the literature and having doctoral
Level training I am capable of understanding the science. Vaccines prevent disease. Just like there are now two studies published saying that the disease confers immunity, I also know that vaccination prevents disease
Go ahead and listen to whatever discussion you want but opinions
On the internet does not confer legitimacy to something so untrue as to be bizarre.
The discussions are much more than “internet”.
Do you intend to get the vaccine as early as possible? Simple question.
I had my vaccine last Thursday
And the discussion is not much more than internet. It’s opinion and nothing more. Snd not very good opinion at that.
OK, but please keep us posted in terms of how that works out. Seriously; this is uncharted territory, and people are understandably concerned.
Best of luck; FRegards!
