A vast number of people only care about their side winning an election; what the election is about, who is running, on what policies are not relevant to them, only winning. Then, its back to whatever they were doing before they had to hold their noses and vote - a real imposition that can interfere with family plans. Fighting does not enter their picturesque fantasy land.
