Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., addressed the Senate Monday afternoon as his colleagues prepared to vote for a $900 billion coronavirus relief package and told his fellow Republicans who backed the stimulus that they are no better than the Democrats they criticize who align themselves with socialism.
"To so-called conservatives who are quick to identify the socialism of Democrats: If you vote for this spending monstrosity, you are no better," Paul said.
"If free money was the answer... if money really did grow on trees, why not give more free money?" he said. "Why not give it out all the time? Why stop at $600 a person? Why not $1,000? Why not $2,000? Maybe these new Free-Money Republicans should join the Everybody-Gets-A-Guaranteed-Income Caucus? Why not $20,000 a year for everybody, why not $30,000? If we can print out money with impunity, why not do it?"
The Senate later aligned with the House and passed the COVID-19 relief package and government funding plan. The vote was 91-6, and members needed 60 votes to pass the bill since it skipped several parliamentary steps, Fox News’ Chad Pergram reported.
The other five who voted against the package were Sens. Rick Scott, R-Fla., Mike Lee, R-Utah, Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., Ted Cruz, R-Texas and Ron Johnson, R-Wis.

What if I told you that in 2024, you may see a GOP ticket with two familiar names. Ted Cruz & Rand Paul.
BUMP
If the integrity of our elections aren’t addressed, there’ll never be another republican elected again.
Cruz’s Senate term is up in 2024 so he will have to decide whether to run for president or Senate.
Or he could do both, though I dont think he will
In before Lyin Ted.
Cruz usually votes the right way the problem is he barely won his seat in TX last time. I dont think he makes an appealing presidential candidate. I could be wrong.
I’m hoping Rand goes for it but I don’t know if the party or America is ready for him :(
People want free stuff and don’t care about the consequences ...
That’s why every single one of us needs to get involved on a local level. We need to be the counters, the registrars, and observers.
I've been talking to people on the internet for a long time. I think most of them don't understand what the consequences will be, and as they come they'll accept other attributions for the cause.
I don't have optimism that Paul could win the GOP primary, much less the general election.
I think all one can really do it try to educate those you care about and position yourself as best as possible for the continued (and accelerating) debasement of the dollar.
SOMEONE design a plan to vote every mother flower that voted for this omnibus. Everyone. No survivors. Political career blacklisted, never to return.
Put in high school educated self-taught citizens. Screw lawyers. Screw politicians. Screw Ivy League.
Litmus test is Constitution and if they are one of us.
Not Cruz. I originally supported him in 2016 and as things developed, I understood why he lost. I think Cruz belongs on the SC - it’s too late for that now. But I won’t support him for president. The governor of South Dakota gets my vote.
Yawn. I’ve been hearing that since the 80s. The voters feel differently. I’m sorry to inform you that no one cares - or very few - not enough to make a difference. I’m with you, but know the reality. Thanks for the passion, though.
This is different, for many reasons. Folks woke up. Maybe too late, but they are awake.
No, they haven’t. If folks woke up, the House would have flipped and Trump would have won - fraud notwithstanding. The legislation is popular. Don’t mistake Freerepubic for the public at large.
I am not getting the barometer from FR by a long shot. I am with patriots who are representative in my entire state. The lightbulb didn’t go on until AFTER the election and the fraud therein. That is what I am hearing from everyone, to include a District Judge in my county (we both served in the Marines).
I do not think you are reading this correctly. All it would take is a nucleus of focused patriots to bring other groups together with a ridiculously simple mission.
People may feel differently in 4 years
You could be my senator
