WASHINGTON — Senior lawmakers reached a compromise over the Federal Reserve's emergency lending powers late Saturday night, overcoming a major hurdle that prevented Congress from completing a $900 billion coronavirus relief package earlier in the week, according to multiple sources.

A last-minute roadblock emerged on Friday as Democrats accused Republicans, namely Pennsylvania's Sen. Pat Toomey, of attempting to encumber the incoming Biden administration by cutting off the Federal Reserve's emergency lending abilities created by the CARES Act meant to protect the already battered economy.

So Toomey agreed to drop the broad language in his proposal that would have prevented the Fed Chair from establishing similar facilities in the future to the ones created in March,”

He folded....as usual.

So 20 to 30 million losing all unemployment benefits one week (December 26) before 20 to 30 million families are no longer protected by an eviction moratorium (January 1) is good in your book?

Are 20 to 30 million more homeless families worth it?

More than half of those gaining re-employment since the initial lockdowns earn less than half of their previous pay. Myself, it’s only 27% of my previous pay ($11k to 3k per month), still well under what unemployment paid.

I’m guessing you are in neither group.

Absolutely. Completely rolled over for the Dems and the central bankers. Again.

Even worse, they tried to obscure it by insisting that their new lending giveaways just not be “identical” to their giveaway programs earlier this year:

A trillion here and a trillion there and pretty soon that adds up to real money.

” Myself, it’s only 27% of my previous pay ($11k to 3k per month), still well under what unemployment paid.”

If UE was paying over 3K a month it should be reduced. There are unfilled jobs all over and people are too lazy to go to work.

You can’t even pay kids $15 hour to do yard work because they are too fat, lazy, and stupid to do anything.

UE should be just enough for rice and beans to keep you from starving until you take your next job.

The deal extended unemployment benefits plus $300 extra. So yea, sitting on your ass collecting $600 unemployment. Why would anyone look for a job? Furthermore, if you dig deeper you will find many of these unemployed squandered that money without paying rent, utilities etc. After all, that new purse or video game was absolutely needed. I am all for helping people when they are down, but this is ridiculous.

Months of stalling and thousands of pages of pork, millions of people hurting and businesses closed permanently when a 4 word bill would fix it all:

All lockdowns are rescinded

I’m thinking your livelihood was in no way impacted by Covid. Lucky you then. However, millions of Americans had their way of life turned upside down last March when their employers were forced to shutter their doors for 2-6 weeks or 7 months in my husband’s case. He’s now back to work, albeit at an income reduced by one-third. But thanks for your “concern” for your fellow Freepers/Americans. /s

You made 11,000 a month? You should have millions in the investment portfolio. Most live on what you make now. Had you saved 8,000 a month, you’d never need to work unless you wanted to.

I have a Grandson and a Niece who are both 19 years old...They both live at home with their parents and don't pay a dime to anyone for anything...

They were both victims of the job destroying covid scheme and ultimately ended up with unemployment benefits...

The Grandson raked in over 900 bucks a week and the Niece not far behind...She now has over twelve thousand U.S. taxpayers' dollars in her bank account...And I am infuriated...

I congratulate on that kind of earning power-—However, many of us live our lives on MUCH less.

I live on less than $15,000 A YEAR

I would be beyond DELIGHTED to have $3000 a month.

You neglected the couple hundred million men, women and children in the undeveloped nations who face death by starvation as the direct result of the deliberate actions of politicians and unelected bureaucrats to close down the economies of developed nations .... but then again, these tyrants have a "good reason" (a "good reason" must always accompany tyranny ... especially new and self-anointed tyranny).

Stand up, America! By the time you vote these vile creatures out of office or win a lawsuit all will be lost.

With all the extra they were paying in UE your husband should be rolling in cash now. Do a few side jobs, sell fire wood, something.
