Is that pronounced like “latex”???
Every Latina I know, hates this term, they don’t use it and think it is changing their language to satisfy some sort of political gender nonsense that didn’t need to be solved.
Its a shame that PC garbage is out to change the structure of a language that is spoken by a majority of the planet to satisfy overweight entitled he shes who don’t speak it anyways.
Any term ending in ‘X’ tends to sound like a product.
I hear Latinx, I think clear floor wax, industrial strength.
In a related story many cartoonists dislike the term ‘Comix’
Latinos don’t appreciate Mexicans, Cubans, Venezuelans, Guatamalans, Argentinians, and Spaniards being lumped together.
So keep it up, and question their macho gender role cultures by eliminating that O.
Democrats are morons. People from Spanish speaking countries are referred to as Latinos and Latinas. That’s how their language works. If Democrats want to continue to insult them, by all means, go for it. It’ll help Republicans to hold on to Florida and Texas a little bit longer.
Doesn’t matter what they don’t like.
The PTB have spoken. Latinos are asking to join white people on top of the hate heap if they resist.
“... “Latinx” down our throats and the fact that the word is very unpopular in the Hispanic community,...”
Best play on it I saw was some guy who said due to the incredible diversity of races and cultures in China the term “Chinese” was far too limiting - from now on he was going to call them “Chinx.” :)
DD’s Latina friend is annoyed by the term in casual conversation because it sounds like “stupid white people $#&+” like all the gender and pronoun BS ... but grudgingly accepts it in science or sociology papers.
Maybe because the term “latinx” denies them the dignity of letting them describe themselves in their own language and it rhymes with “stinks.”
Because it sounds absolutely GAY.
There was a sign “Latino’s for TRUMP” on a heavily traveled road in the boonies around here. SOME Latinos LIKE the word.
Latincs?
The amusing thing is that LatinX sounds like a laxative or a tampon.
In all my years of living around Spanish and Mexican people I never heard that term till the last few years.
They were either Spanish(New Mexicans) or Mexicans (Legal), Latinos or Hispanics. Never Latinx.
The thing is, languages like Spanish and French clearly establish male and female forms for nouns. Those languages have a long history, and their speakers aren’t nearly as wimpy as the British and Americans have been in defending the English language.
In suggesting that Hispanics are cross-dressing perverts, the word is probably a loser.
In the latin culture, men are manly MEN, and women are feminine WOMEN. No confusion. They like Latino, Latina. The gender crap is bs and they know it, and can’t stand it.
