WASHINGTON - The definition of a scandal changes quickly in Washington.
Over the course of four years, the nation’s capital has careened from crisis to crisis. There was the travel ban, the investigation into Russian interference in an election, the firing of an FBI director, a 35-day government shutdown, dismissals of Cabinet secretaries via tweet, impeachment and a historic pandemic that forced the president to be hospitalized.
And then there was the Glamour interview.
Jen O’Malley Dillon, President-elect Joe Biden’s campaign manager and incoming deputy chief of staff, referred to congressional Republicans as “f——ers” in a conversation with the magazine. And Washington was again in a tizzy.
The hand-wringing is a preview of one of the political shifts ahead once Biden takes office. Democrats preparing to take power are furious at any sign of a double standard from Republicans who looked past — or encouraged — President Donald Trump’s profane and divisive behavior in office.
And Republicans, eager to portray Democrats as elitists, are suddenly aghast over a lack of decorum.
Although Marco Rubio didn’t condemn Trump’s comment about African “shithole countries,” the Florida Republican senator seemed scandalized by O’Malley Dillon’s comment. He tweeted that it shows what Democrats “really think.” White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany tweeted the comment “says volumes” about Biden.

Ugh - you morons, it’s not the “obscenities” - it’s the outright hate.
Not that you would understand the difference.
For the AP - once again lack of self-awarenesss and perspective.
Classic libtard misdirection. It’s about Biden saying “it’s time to come together” and then having his minion spew divisive hate. It’s such BS!
Freerepublic excellence on display, in four posts AP is summarily dealt with, while the article’s 29 paragraphs were hardly adequate in not dealing with reality.
The AP was once the gold standard in news gathering.
I’m old enough to remember.
There has been outright hatred on both sides towards the other for years now. Why the sudden umbrage?
“For the AP - once again lack of self-awarenesss and perspective.”
With hypocrisy. From the Ass Press article:
“But it is an open question if it provides an opening to those who looked past the excesses of the Trump era to suddenly demand politeness without at least some self-awareness.”
It’s called hypocrisy. She said this in an article that headlined “Biden calls for unity” where she says “We’re gonna bring America together - Unity!” and then calls the GOP fuckers.
When Trump does it he’s evil and the GOP need to stop the hate and reign Trump in.
When Jen does it she’s brave and strong and, y’know, BOTH SIDES do it.
You my friends are watching CW II developing in slow motion. Truth has died.
Republicans should realize only a show of force has rules.
Revenge of the Sluts.
Yes, it is about the hate that is behind the comment and not the words used.
On this subject hypocrisy is endemic on both sides. Every recent president, Trump included, has pledged to bring the country together. Every recent president, Trump included, has done all in their power to make sure unity doesn't happen. And the opposite side, in every case, has been shocked, shocked I tell you, when their own hypocrisy in complaining has been pointed out.
No. Trump never said he’d bring the country “together”.
Not true.
Trump has challenged republicans and democrats.
When he sent military medical resources to democratic new work Dems literally murdered their own elderly residents with Covid rather than cooperate with Trump bipartisanship.
The AP already knows what I am about to say, but their article’s purpose is to deflect and minimize.
The term “shit hole country” is descriptive of nations whose population use a hole on the ground for bodily waste. It speaks to their lack of ability to provide public sanitary conditions mastered by the Roman Empire.
Calling your fellow Americans of the other party “F’ers” is bad enough, but to elevate one who does so in public to that post speaks volumes of their disdain for roughly half of America.
They hated us first.
Ha. Total bullshit.
Oh yeah?
Of course he did. So did Obama. So is Biden.
