Swedish Politician: Only 68 of 7,000 ‘High School Amnesty’ Migrants Have Jobs

Swedish Moderate Party MP Hanif Bali has claimed that of 7,000 Afghan “high school amnesty” migrants in Sweden, just 68 have full-time work.

Bali, a noted critic of mass migration, pushed back against those who support the so-called “high school amnesty” for around 7,000 Afghan migrants that was passed in 2018 despite indications that 78 per cent of the supposedly underage migrants eligible were actually adults.

“Of the approximately 7,000 rejected migrants who received the high school amnesty, only 68 have managed to get a permanent job, and after 5 years in the country, 5,800 have still not completed their high school studies,” Bali said on Friday.

“Yet they are described by all amnesty advocates as having ‘education and jobs’. Pure lie,” he alleged.

Bali’s claim matches prior trends that have shown high rates of unemployment among asylum seekers in Sweden who have arrived since the height of the migrant crisis in 2015.

This article makes repeated mention of a so-called "high school amnesty," but neglects entirely to explain what it is.

Amnesty for what crime?

Historically speaking, I don’t think these situations are ever resolved peacefully. Another European war is inevitable.

I seem to recall reading about this. I think it allowed for underage kids to be allowed into the country. So of course lots of 20 somethings said “I’m 17, I can stay!”

Definition of "amnesty:"

To grant an official pardon to people who have been convicted of political offences.

So what I'd (still) like to know is: Of what crime were they amnestied?

When I was in Norway working in the North Sea 100% of us had jobs. We were there to do the jobs the Norwegians did not have firstly due to the fact they did not have the skills yet. They soon had those skills and replaced us over the years. That is just the way it was and it is okay.

The ones that were not replaced married very lovely Norwegian girls and thus were not replaced. They made a wise decision on choice of ladies and job. The ladies were first and a most wise choice.

I saw one article that had the term amnesty in quotes. Although I guess that group Amnesty International is dealing with refuges. I’m guessing most of them are entering the west for the money, but they’ll claim they are fleeing political persecution.

I’m not sure I knew that the term “amnesty” only referred to political acts. Learn something new every day!

"Amnesty" refers to "political" acts only in the strictest sense of the word. Generally speaking, however, it MUST refer to actual CRIMES.

So I repeat: What CRIMES did these highschoolers commit, that they should be AMNESTIED?

My whole point, in case you haven't noticed, is that these people (politicians and journalists) are degrading our language. The truth is that these refugees probably haven't committed ANY crimes - Sweden let them in voluntarily. But since there is no established term for granting citizenship wholesale to entire groups of people, it appears that the Swedes have co-opted the word "amnesty" for this purpose.

Like I said: Degrading our language.
