Protesters armed with paintball guns blocking a stretch of road in Portland after authorities planned to force out a family who lost their property to foreclosure have now allowed traffic to pass as part of a deal with the city.
There were growing signs that the six-day, three-block long ‘occupation’ of the Red House in Portland was coming to an end even as it was learned that the Kinney family, who had owned the property for more than 60 years, had not paid their mortgage in years.
The family claimed in court that they were no longer bound by the terms of the loan because they were of ‘indigenous’ and ‘aboriginal’ heritage and thus could not be compelled to pay by a bank, according to OregonLive.

They owned the property for more than 60 years but stopped paying a mortgage? How overleveraged were these people in their property?
I think they are recycling water and not taking the drugs out in all these cities. No other explanation for ll the crazy.
These protesters are loser magnets; trash begets trash.
That jumped out at me, too. If you have a mortgage on a property you’ve “owned” for 60 years, YOU’RE DOING IT WRONG!
Have you seen Andy Ngo’s tweets with the montages of AntiFa arrestee mugshots?
They scream Losers!
When their son was charged with vehicular manslaughter for DUI and killing someone they took out a mortgage on the house to fund his lawyer.
Then his parents retired and couldn’t keep up the payments and the son continued to be a criminal and didn’t make enough to pay the mortgage either.
Paint ball guns vs 5.56. Who will win this fight.
“...who had owned the property for more than 60 years, had not paid their mortgage in years.”
Dang...where do I get me one of them 60-year mortgages?
Comrade “what is a sovereign nation?”
Antifa leader “someone who beat us at our own game”.
Comrade “well let’s take over this sovereign nation!”
Antifa leader “You idiot, they don’t even have enough money to pay off a mortgage after 60 years and don’t even own the house.” “It’s back to Portland, at least they will pay us”.
The article says they needed $26,000 to pay a claim from their son killing an 83-Year-old by running a red light.
So, they borrowed $96,300 against the house in 2002, at 8.25%. In 2004, they refinanced at 7.74%. They made payments until late 2016, when the loan was sold to another company. Then they stopped making payments, claiming they were "Sovereign citizens". The house was eventually sold at auction for $260,000.
A gofundme campaign has raised the $260,000, and the sale back to the Kinney family has been negotiated.
Protesting against fake “injustice” is one thing, being an accessory to fraud is another.
Anyone else notice when you go to the many so-called news websites, Daily Mail in this case, that many of these sites are so overloaded with ads on the top, left, right, bottom, and pop-ups the your web browser basically stalls out loading the page. The actual story content is constrained to about 20% of the browser page space if not completely overlaid by ads.
So these losers tried the “Moorish-American” scam. Moor-ons.
The first mortgage was paid off, but they took out another one to pay legal expenses for a family member charged with a crime.
You & others are missing the point with the bad jokes:
You & I are on the hook for theirs & others’ who were granted loans on the basis of bad leftist policies.
I’m not laughing.
Son killed a man in a DUI. They took it out to pay lawyer and fines. The family of the dead man received $26,000.
“The actual story content is constrained to about 20% of the browser page space if not completely overlaid by ads.”
That’s why we get to look at these sites for free.
That, in turn, should remind us why we need to donate to this ad-free Freerepublic site. I make a tiny donation. No one paid me to say this.
“You & others are missing the point with the bad jokes:”
LOL...no, unfortunately, I’m not missing the point. I know exactly who’s on the hook for their irresponsibility. My poor attempts at humor reflect my frustration with what is happening...and my complete inability to do anything about it. I was in the real estate industry for decades...saw what was coming in 2007-08...and hunkered down. It hit the fan, but we came out comfortably on the other side. Many of the foreclosured homes from that period are now back in the market as rentals owned by national companies...having been aided and abetted by FNMA, HUD and other govt/quasi-govt departments.
