Value of GOP Sen. Kelly Loeffler's $10.5m mansion 60% to $4.15m overnight, saving Loefflers $110,000 in property tax each year

The appraised value of Republican Sen. Kelly Loeffler and her husband’s Atlanta mansion, known as ‘Descante’, dropped suddenly – and mysteriously - by more than $6 million in 2016, saving the couple tens of thousands of dollars in taxes every year since, according to the Daily Beast.

Loeffler and her New York Stock Exchange CEO husband, Jeffrey Sprecher, bought the 15,000-square-foot mansion for $10.5 million in 2009, making it the most expensive private home purchase in the city’s history at the time.

The property held its value steady for the next seven years, based on appraisals conducted by the Fulton County government for tax purposes, before dramatically plummeting 60 percent to just $4.15 million in 2016, without explanation.

Across the last four years, the value of the four-acre estate, which was built in 1997, has risen to roughly $5 million. However, the couple are still paying around $80,000 less a year than they were when they first purchased the property. In 2018, the home was valued at $5.5 million, and the couple paid $115,000 in property taxes for that year; in 2020, the home was valued at a lesser $5 million, with an annual tax bill of $112,000, according to the Daily Beast.

Even more bizarrely, the 2016 devaluation of Loeffler and Sprecher’s home came after the couple made extensive renovations to the property in the year previous. In 2015, the couple reportedly spent nearly $90,000 to renovate the home’s kitchen, $150,000 building a new greenhouse, and $125,000 on improvements to the estate’s gardens.

They are not the only ones receiving huge financial benefits that don't show up on income. This type of corruption is why the nation is in trouble and many other Democrats and Republicans are benefitting in a huge way through this method and others. This is the REASON no one wants to fix any problems including election fraud. They are being blackmailed and will be exposed.

A democrat must’ve moved into the neighborhood to cause property values to so plummet.

My first cousin was elected Property Assessor (R) in my county. The sumbitch raised my taxes!

It must be the hair that gets her these discounts.

HEY Daily Mail!! I don't want to hear about Kelly's house and that how she got it honestly through hard work.

I wanna hear about Joe Biden's many mansions that he got as kickbacks from China!

Home renovations rarely increase the value of a property. When it’s the only property of that type in the market area, trying to find a buyer even at the lower valuation would be very difficult.

Homes at the high price ranges are not selling for the money they were purchased.

Dome of the other expenses are just cosmetic, and really don’t add value in terms of money.

This is not an unusual situation.

Sigh....

Doug Collins was the better choice for candidate. I imagine her opponent is going to make much of her wealth etc.

From the article:

Loeffler and her husband are worth $800 million, according to Forbes, which makes her the wealthiest senator.

If they saved $110,000 would they even notice?

She reminds me of Linda McMahon buying a senate seat (or trying).

I’m worried about how voters will see her.. argh.

Then you’re missing a significant aspect of the Deep State.

It’s called gaming the system. You get into a position of political power, you network, a friend does you a favor, you do one back... Before you know it, you’re living in a multi million dollar mansion and getting free flights, free cars, bungs from lobbyists, and you need a creative accountant to find every possible loophole to offset all that MONEY FOR NOTHING.

That is where the rot starts.

And it isn’t money for nothing really, it’s a pyramid of quid pro quo.

All political parties are rife with this but for far too long it’s been treated almost like a virtue rather than a cancer.

Call it out for what it is - corruption. There is no good side to it for the American people.

Biden may be up to his sclerotic eyeballs in debts to foreign actors. Equally there are people in the system who are up to their eyeballs in Big Business, which sounds great until you realise that they’re cancelling this and blocking that and selling off national assets not because of a political position but because they’re getting a massive kick-back. And the company they’re in hock to, which maybe once was an all American brand, is now a global enterprise backed by Chinese state funds or Russian oligarchs.

There’s no such thing as a poor career politician, and there is no such thing as a rich career politician who isn’t totally owned by a Deep State or corporation - be it domestic or foreign.

Why do you think it’s so easy for so many republican politicians to be darlings of the Conservative and Christian talking shops one week, and RINO parish the next?

Because 99% of the time, bring republican gives you a free pass and nobody asks you how come you’ve gone from being indebted and poor in the first year of public service to being a multimillionaire in year ten without doing any job or serving any master other than the Constitution.

Lee Atwater was once asked how he would have run against G H W Bush.

Atwater replied he would have done an overhead shot of the Bush seaside mansion in Maine with a voice over that said:

"No wonder he wants to cut the rate on capital gains."

I don’t think you got the gist of my post. We will never see them do a trashing expose of Joe Biden’s mansions.

Blackmail, extortion, bribery and violence (or threats) are the modern Rat political methodology.

The home is very tastefully appointed. Whether the market value is $4 million or $10 million is one thing. Does that change the value of a home to you?

Yes, house values collapsed from 2007 to 2011 and have since rebounded.

https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/CSUSHPINSA

I don’t know the specifics of this house, its market and so forth. Looks like the couple bought at the top and suffered a big loss as the market collapsed. Maybe the assessor has been slow in reappraising homes in Atlanta since 2011. Check out this home, which looks roughly comparable. It’s listed at $10 million and has been on the market for a year and a half. Maybe the Atlanta market remains soft.

Trump made a lot of money buying in down markets. Depending on how confident you are that the city will recover (and I’m not confident that, e.g., New York City will recover), this ongoing COVID situation could be a tremendous buying opportunity for somebody who can put deals together.

And again you’re missing the point.

When have we conservatives ever looked objectively at how our own rich and powerful “allies” or leaders in politics are beholden to foreign interests, cash donors, foreign owned corporations?

We all know why isn’t the RAT friendly MSM isn’t investigating Biden. That’s so obvious it’s boring. The more troubling question is, why is there no appetite even in right wing Conservative journalism to do it either.

Even on our side of it, everyone in the investigative journalism business knows that the minute they give Biden the level of scrutiny he deserves, the rest of the industry will leave no stone unturned in sniffing out identical levels of corruption in republican circles.

And if anyone ever doubted that even die-hard evangelical Republicans could be just as corrupted by the Deep State and outside interests as Democrats, the Nov 2020 presidential election aftermath should have been the mother of all reality checks.

The dogged pursuit of Trump was set by two things: the refusal to call Time on Obama birther talk showed the RATS it’s okay to hound a POTUS for 8 years straight if you think he ain’t legit (we’re in year 4...); and Trump being investigated by New York long before he switched from being a democrat and then an independent to being a Tea Party style republican.

Trump jumped from a party that wasn’t bothered by New York investigating one of its own, to a party that was pathologically incapable of ever thinking one of their own could ever deserve to be investigated.

The long term result is RINO in bed with the Deep State. And we’re only just seeing the scale of the problem that we created by acting as if the GOP ticket on its own demonstrates probity.

J. Paul Getty put pay phones in his house for guests to use. Hetty Green's son had to have his leg amputated because she spent so much time trying to find a free clinic that would treat him that the infection got gangrenous. So there are rich people who notice every penny. Since the Loefflers blow money on stupid stuff like a WNBA franchise I doubt they fit into that category.
