How long will the covid vaccine remain that high?

The SARS-CoV-2 virus has thus far shown itself to be remarkably stable. Some small mutations have happened, impacting the virus’ ability to infect cells more efficiently, but nothing that would impact immunity.

Based on our experience with SARS-CoV-1 (SARS2003) and MERS-CoV (MERS2012), the general expectation is that immunity should last for a few years after vaccination. After that, a booster shot of some sort may be needed if the disease hasn’t yet been eradicated like smallpox.
