WASHINGTON - A crush of sign-ups expected Tuesday on the last day of open enrollment for HealthCare.gov could help solidify the standing of “Obamacare” as an improbable survivor in the Donald Trump years.
In 36 states that use HealthCare.gov,- Dec. 15 is deadline day for coverage that starts Jan. 1, while another 14 states and Washington, D.C., have later dates. Analysts and advocates who follow the annual insurance sign-ups say interest has gotten stronger with the coronavirus pandemic gripping the nation.
Also, the legal cloud hanging over the Affordable Care Act seemed to start lifting last month when Supreme Court justices gave a skeptical reception to the latest challenge from the Trump administration and conservative-led states seeking to overturn the law in its entirety.
That’s expected to change under the incoming Biden administration, which plans to build on the health law to expand coverage to more than 30 million who still lack it.
Obama was doing some promotion of his own, tweeting Monday evening, “If you or someone you know needs coverage, head to HealthCare.gov right now to sign up for an affordable plan that works for you and your family.”
Some former Obama officials who closely monitor the Trump administration’s operation of the program say they have reason to hope in this sign-up season.

Government Healthcare will be Biden’s focus. We need the senate to stop it.
Seniors, pay special attention to the bit on the "national frailty score"...
Getting rid of the individual mandate is all we needed. I’m good.
For the 9 million unfortunate suckers who “signed up”, any life change will trigger bankruptcy, and eternal collections by the IRS that can’t be discharged.
I am getting deluged with calls saying that I have no health care. Now about four per hour, all from Minnestoopid.

LOL- you’re joking- correct??
The GOP had every chance to stop it from 2010- they offered nothing...
Do they cover mental health and dementia screenings?
Yeah, but they didn't get rid of it, it's still in place. The amount is just 0. And here's the really bad part: the reason they reduced it to 0 rather than eliminating it as a matter of law, was because it didn't require as many votes, meaning that the vote bar is still low to bring it back in a non-zero form.
Yeah, but not low enough - so far.
Meanwhile, I broke through age 65 so it’s no longer an issue for me.
I stopped all health insurance the day the mandate kicked in. I never paid for health insurance and never paid the penalty. I saved over $100,000 in health insurance premiums and only went to the ER room once. That was a waste of time and money, but that was the only service I needed, and it would have been within the deductible so insurance would not have covered it anyway.
Bottom line for me is that health insurance is not worth the cost. It crossed the “worth the money” line a long time ago. I trust the Lord - the great healer. He has been faithful.
