Larry Hogan was an opportunist flying in on the GOP-E Dem-lite ticket along with Michael Steel, self proclaimed black conservative as his running mate, first black candidate in Maryland for state wide office. That helped swing the black vote in Baltimore and Prince George County. Embraced by the GOP-e. as a rare “clean well spoken minority candidate” Steel went on to be a national spokesman for the GOP and later chairman of the Republican National Committee. That’s Maryland politics for you.
Hogan is that rare bird, a Maryland Governor that has not been indicted, concicted and imprisoned, see Agnew, Marvin Mandel, et all.
Hogan has been acquiring the gravitas of Gerrold Nadler, seeking to fill Nadler’s pants on the national stage.
