An alternative method as practiced in some States maybe worth consideration – 1 EV for every Congressional district in the State; then the two Electors corresponding to their Senators would be awarded to the total State vote winner…
That way, States like Alaska or Wyoming with a single “District” would have all 3 Electoral votes go to same way they do now. The bigger States like California would be better apportioned, particularly where large population centers are concerned; then it wouldn’t matter if the big-city district went 85% for the Democrat or 125% like they do now (/S). The difference wouldn’t matter in the 2 EV bonus anyway.
