If ANY government tells me not to stockpile, I’ll DAMN SURE stockpile!
And among the stockpiling should be arms and ammo.
Jonty30s wise words.
Seriously, what harm is there in putting away some tuna, pasta and beans?
Unless, the government has something up their sleeves.
This wasn't the government! - the 'don't stockpile' message came from the British retail industry, chiefly the big supermarket chains.
The principle is the same.
Whose government it is is irrelevant.
Anyone who has not had the foresight to be stockpiling since they saw what happened in March deserves where they end up.
We’ve had months to surreptitiously be buying a little more than usual each time we shop. Not enough to raise any suspicions or to have an impact on the supply chain, but certainly enough to give everyone a comfortable cushion for the winter.
I foresee trouble ahead no matter who gets inaugurated.
Biden wants that 100 day mask wearing and lockdown. And that will just be the beginning of our troubles. It will just be more gradual than if Trump takes office.
With Trump keeping office, the left’s reaction in 2016 will pale in comparison to what I suspect we’ll see this time. I think that they will pull out opall the stops and blame the right and accuse him of a coup. The cities will be hit the hardest by the violence but also because of the difficulty of getting supplies in safely.
Truck drivers did not sign up for combat duty when they took their jobs and I would not blame them for not being willing to risk their lives for people who want to destroy this country.
OK, the principle is the same even if it’s not officially the government but I would not trust that it does not have ties to the government or is somehow a quasi governmental agency.
However, whatever the entity, the minute you tell people to not do something, they will do it.
I think very soon we will see a major shortage here in the US. VERY SOON!!!
They probably do have enough if folks act normally - but they will panic and cause false shortages of food like we did with toilet paper/Lysol/sanitizers as everyone went insane.
That aside, of course it's possible, even probable that at some point there will be a similar plea from government. For what its worth, it seems that if there are post-Brexit shortages after January 1st, they'll be in fresh produce (fruit, vegetables etc) rather than manufactured foods or other manufactured goods.
So, this is the second international indication of concern regarding food and supplies; this one seems on the surface to concern itself with Brexit.
This announcement is due to international political uncertainty and trade restrictions.
The first official international concern came from the United Nations weeks ago regarding food shortages due to natural disasters and climate change.
And just think, we are still five months away from "The Great RESET" in Davos, Switzerland (5/2020),
where the politicians, IT techs, and financial 'elite' will plan out our societal futures.
Financials and politics don't like uncertainties.
When the government tells you not to stockpile, you had better grab all you can.
Except that this wasn’t the government - it was the food industry.
Nothing wrong with Johnsonville rope sausage either!
Many varieties.
