Acting US defense secretary's chief of staff Kash Patel files $50M defamation lawsuit against CNN

Kash Patel, the chief of staff to Acting Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller, has filed a $50 million defamation lawsuit against CNN and several of its top reporters, claiming the liberal network published false statements and promoted “unfounded left-wing political narratives” by painting Patel as a pro-Trump conspiracy theorist seeking to smear President-elect Joe Biden.

The complaint filed on Friday in Virginia Circuit Court named CNN reporters Barbara Starr, Zachary Cohen, Ryan Browne, Alex Marquardt and Nicole Gaouette as defendants, in addition to the network itself. It claims CNN “deliberately or recklessly conveyed a false message” to sensationalize the “news” and humiliate Patel.

Patel, who was previously a top aide to Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., and a Trump advisor, claims CNN published a series of articles from Nov. 24 through Dec. 4 penned by the defendants that “contain a series of false and defamatory statements” about him, according to the complaint.

The complaint says defamatory statements in the articles include, “Trump loyalist connected to Biden conspiracy theories is leading Pentagon transition,” “Kash Patel, a Trump loyalist, … was connected to efforts to spread conspiracy theories about Joe Biden,” Kash “has also worked to discredit Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election,” “Pentagon blocked Biden’s intelligence transition team from meeting with agencies,” and “Defense Department transition office … is led by a Trump loyalist connected to efforts to spread conspiracy theories about the President-elect,” among other similar examples.

Patel’s legal team said CNN retaliated against him because he helped poke holes in the network’s narrative that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia before the 2016 election.

CNN did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

this is the narrative being pushed by FakeNewsMSM worldwide. Trump and his supporters are conspiracy theorists.

never mind the following is full of nonsense about Obama not being involved etc. - or the faux “fact” checkers & other FakeNewsMSM who covered for the NYT story - it, in reality, appeared on NYT’s front page on Trump’s inauguration day, 2017:

8 March 2017: NY Post: Did the New York Times already tell us Trump was ‘wiretapped’?
By John Crudele
The reason the Times has a dilemma is that, on Jan. 20, the paper ran a front-page story with the headline “Wiretapped Data Used in Inquiry of Trump Aides.”

There were four bylines on that story, which read, “American law enforcement and intelligence agencies are examining intercepted communications and financial transactions as part of a broad investigation into possible links between Russian officials and associates of President-elect Donald J. Trump, including former campaign chairman Paul Manafort, current and former senior American officials said.”

So, would the Times like to retract the Jan. 20 front-page article? Or would it like to amend its piece about Trump’s allegations that his campaign was wiretapped by adding, “Trump may not have proof, but the Times confirmed back in January that wiretapping did occur.”?

It’s unclear whether the wiretapping to which the Times is referring was of Trump’s people or whether Trump’s people were picked up on electronic surveillance — which is the proper term — of Russian phones.

Either way, the Times knows — and I’m told its reporters saw transcripts of the conversations — that Trump’s people had been recorded on bugs.
So there are two choices: Either correct the Jan. 20 story or admit that Trump may be at least a little right...

It can’t have it both ways — Trump is either correct or its Jan. 20 story is wron

and so, for years - even now in fact - FakeNewsMSM ran with a conspiracy theory about TrumpRussiaCollusion, involving a phony dossier paid for by HRC/DNC, which was publicly known at the latest by October 2017, and never did they turn the spotlight on HRC/DNC/Perkins Coie/GPS Fusion/Steele/Halper/Mifsud/Intel agencies, domestic & foreign/etc. they stuck to their conspiracy theories and, when they were finally officially debunked in the tainted Mueller report, they jumped on another conspiracy theory involving Ukraine and cheered on impeachment!

24 Oct 2017: NYT: Clinton Campaign and Democratic Party Helped Pay for Russia Trump Dossier
By Kenneth P. Vogel
The letter that was filed in court said that Fusion GPS began working for the law firm, Perkins Coie, in April 2016...
Perkins Coie was paid $12.4 million to represent the Clinton campaign and the D.N.C. during the 2016 campaign, according to filings. The role of the Clinton campaign and the national party in funding the research for the dossier was first reported on Tuesday by The Washington Post...

Fusion GPS hired Christopher Steele, a ???respected former British spy with extensive experience in Russia, to conduct research into any possible connections between Mr. Trump, his businesses, campaign team and Russia...
Fusion GPS was started by three former Wall Street Journal employees. The firm worked directly with Perkins Coie and its lead election lawyer, Marc Elias, according to the law firm spokesperson, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive information about confidential business relationships...

and so, Republicans lost the House in 2017, and Marc Elias was free to participate in the 2020 election fraud.

should have added that much of the FakeNewsMSM knew the truth about the ClintonRussiaDossier long before the 2016 election, and were complicit in creating the false narrative that dominated President Trump’s first term.

disgusting.

CNN learned nothing from the Covington incident. Here’s hoping they once again get the Nick Sandman treatment.
