Remember, this officer is retired (or so the article says). And he’s not spilling any secrets. So he has little to lose by identifying himself.
As a side note, I dislike being the devil’s advocate here. But we all have seen those anonymous sources smearing Trump. So I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t trust any anonymous source.
