Time to Step Back from the Brink.
National Review ^ | December 11, 2020 | Andrew C. McCarthy

...

If congressional Republicans are adamant that the votes of the people of Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Georgia are illegitimate, let them stand up and object . . . and see if they ever win another election in those states again.

Let Republicans try to explain to the country why what they propose to do to states that vote for a Democratic candidate won’t result in Democrats disenfranchising states that vote for a Republican candidate.

With President Trump refusing to accept defeat and his core supporters stoked by hysterical claims that the election has been stolen — as opposed to righteous concerns that election integrity needs shoring up — Republicans are walking a razor’s edge. They do not want to court the wrath of Trump supporters, so they are supporting the unsupportable; besides the 18 states, well over 100 GOP House members have now expressed support for Texas’s gambit. They may calculate that this is a cost-free gesture, but it is not: It eggs on the president’s tirades and intensifies his supporters’ “Stop the Steal” zeal.

With the Court declining to entertain the Texas lawsuit, however, and the Electoral College voting on Monday, what then?

Are Republicans ready for what they are teeing up on January 6? Have they thought this through? Are they ready to have the Republican Party identified with the disenfranchisement of millions of Americans? Are they ready for a new kind of “United” States in which we invalidate each other’s votes? In which we roll the dice on how states will coexist once they start trying to disenfranchise each other?

“President Trump lost a close election”

BS. It wasn’t even close. Not by 10 million votes.

“Agreed, either the GOPe types are basically kicked out or we start a new party,”

No party except the democrap party will win an election with the cheating they do.

The anti-Trumpers and the deep swamp shills are really coming out of the swamp.

In the first place Andrew McCarthy's basic premise is not correct.

If it is correct, as a sizable portion of the public believes, that the election was rigged they certainly are not going to condemn those who are fighting for honest elections.

So the only people in the states mentioned who will be forever haters of the conservatives who are fighting for honest elections will be the crazy fringe libs and the criminal politicians who rigged the election.

How is that a loss? Good riddance.

“his terrible tactics in the 1st debate or attacking John McCain”

I don’t give a damn about John McCain.

A different perspective: we should be patient and wait until the liberals get their wish to defund the police and destroy the military. They will be much easier to fight when they don’t have all that hardware.

Didn’t one democrat call gunowners crazy to think they could stand up against a government that had nuclear weapons?

Thanks, McCarthy you pompous jackass. If I wanted to live in a country surrounded by bananas, I would’ve moved to Venezuela.

. . .partly because of Trump's mistakes, such as his terrible tactics in the 1st debate or attacking John McCain even after his death and narrowly losing Arizona.

McCarthy is an idiot and a liar. Patrick Basham, of the Democracy Institute, has done a thorough analysis of the vote results in this election. He has found that Trump out performed 2016 in virtually every category and demographic while Biden underperformed compared to Hillary and Obama in those same categories.

Now here's the kicker: The one and only category where Biden outperformed was in the four cities, but only after voting was halted, poll watchers sent out and barred from returning. In that instance ALONE is where Biden suddenly outperformed Trump by an astronomical ratio and turned the election around from Trump up in those states by hundreds of thousands of votes to just barely losing each one.

This practice has now been sanctioned by the Supreme Court, which means that not only has this election been stolen, but it also means that the power to govern the self, granted to us by God Almighty, has also been stolen from us.

The problem with succession is the nation is not divided by states, as per Civil War I, it is divided by, mostly, rural vs. urban populations. For example, here in Virginia, we would have to create a new “South Virginia,” which would be comprised of a Virginia purged of the Northern Virginia counties that border the Swamp. I’m not saying I’m against it, just recognizing some unique issues if that were the course we should go.

It already is. The Republican party has allowed its own supporters to be disenfranchised by a group of crooks.

The Electoral College will elect Biden on Monday, and if Congressional Republicans refuse to accept electors from some states, they will lose (become many GOP congressmen and Senators will not go along) and ruin their reputations.

President Trump lost a close election, partly because of events like a pandemic and associated recession, partly because of media bias such as ignoring Hunter and Joe Biden’s corruption, and partly because of Trump’s mistakes, such as his terrible tactics in the 1st debate or attacking John McCain even after his death and narrowly losing Arizona.

_____________________________________

No Covid...I don’t think we would be discussing voter fraud at this time. President Trump would have won easily...

I think many people did vote against Trump because they did not like his Covid “response”...I think he did a fine job. But, other people have different opinions...

Media coverage was not helpful this year for President...

There are many people out there who really hate President Trump...I am not happy about that...But, that is the reality...I do think that those people voted for Joe Biden...Those people also gave money to Biden campaign...

I don’t dispute that not too many people showed up for Biden rallies...But, there still were many people who hated President Trump...Those people voted...

I think many people were willing to vote for President although they don’t like his personality...Then the Covid showed up...The unemployment rate went up in many states...
Those people decided to vote for Biden...They had no intention of sticking with President Trump...They had no sense of loyalty to him...

About Arizona...
2000 election...Bush won (51%).
2004 election...Bush won (55%).
2008 election...McCain won (54%).
2012 election...Romney won (54%).
2016 election...Trump won (48%).
2020 election...Biden won (49.36%).

In 2016, Trump won Arizona by 4 points...In 2012, Romney won Arizona by 9 points...

Arizona is going blue whether we like it or not...Population is changing...

I do share McCarthy’s concern about blue states suing red states about some election law...
I don’t know about forcing all states to follow same election procedures...I do believe in federalism where a state is not forced to do what another state is doing...

Electoral College will vote for Joe Biden on Monday...Whether I like it or not...

I was troubled by stories about questionable election procedures...I supported legal challenges...But, the Supreme Court announced its opinion...That is it...Whether I like it or not...

In 2001, members of Black Caucus objected to Bush electoral votes from Florida...Objection was denied.

In January, I guess some House Republicans could raise objections to Biden electoral votes from some states...I don’t think the objections would do any good...

Let’s remember there are many people out there who dislike President Trump...I am sure some FR posters have relatives and neighbors who really hate President Trump...

I did vote for President twice...I also gave money to his campaign...

I do not support the idea of declaring martial law...Absolutely not...

Your A or B is hardly the only choice.. the truth is A with the fact people listed in it are cowardly, afraid to rock to boat and have alot to lose if they do

Fear of going against the group is as old as mankind..its easier and safer just to go with the flow...

You and McCarthy are full of crap. You're spewing the lies the Republican establishment wants circulated.

The evidence right there in front of his and your face>

Trump won 18 of 19 bellwether counties that had voted with the winner since 1980.

He won Florida and Ohio. In 26 of the last 27 elections, the candidate that had done that won the election.

Republicans gained about dozen seats in the House and gained at the state level. But, you and Andy want us to believe in a coat with coattails?

We're supposed to believe there was a 51% voter turnout in Cleveland but an 84% voter turnout in Milwaukee? We're supposed to believe the voter turnout in Wisconsin was 90%, nearly the same as the 92% in Australia, which has mandatory voting?

There are about a thousand affidavits swearing to voter fraud from witnesses of it. Trump's legal team showed the voter that occurred in Georgia via a surveillance video. We know Dominion voting machines flipped votes to Biden in some counties in both Michigan and Georgia.

It's irresponsible to sweep voter fraud under the rug. All it does is embolden Democrats to make voter fraud the norm in every election.

Apparently McCarthy does not know the difference between a vote and a ballot. No fraudulent/ counterfeit ballot contains a legitimate vote. Stupid Andy, jockeying for favor under sloJoe’s ho when she takes office.

Republicans should focus on keeping the Senate by winning in Georgia and on limiting the damage Biden does in office.

How the hell is that supposed to happen when the same lack of signature verification for mail-in ballots still exists for the run-offs as it did for the general election?

How many elections do the Democrats have to steal with voter fraud in cities like Atlanta before your head emerges from your ass?

You realize that claim about the water pipe break at the State Farm Arena was a lie that was used to clear out all but four partisan Democrat hacks that continued counting votes? You realize one is caught on video running the same ballots multiple times?

It's a joke that you think we should be focusing in on anything but stopping future voter fraud.
