How many historical presidential elections, especially before the advent of computers, not to mention telephone and telegraph, do you think had all the votes counted by midnight on election day?

Probably the majority. And certainly, NONE that changed the election outcome AFTER election day.

But hey...since the election of 1800 possibly had a dozen votes counted after midnight, it's a precedent and therefore there is no reason to call out the illegality of hundreds of thousands/millions of votes that directly affected the election results.
