I’m much younger (millennial), and I wasn’t taught those things in school, but I’ve done a lot of research into that era, and the 50s/early 60s were good times for the USA. And I agree with a lot of what you were taught.
But many people got complacent and the darkness was able to creep in. We are in the situation we are in today due to a combination of leftist takeover of academia, Hollywood, and many of our institutions, and the ‘deep state’ wanting globalism and neverending conflict because it lines pockets of giant corporations and defense contractors. Basically, the desire for power and the love of money at the expense of everything else.
We are at a dark point, and some things may get worse, and some things may change significantly. Maybe the USA will have to split up in order for things to calm down.
But we know from history that our ideas and values work and lead to prosperity and that their ideas fail, so it’s important that we continue to believe and fight for them.
That won't matter if the Democrats get and keep control of all three branches of the government, which they are in a position to do, and very soon.
