They like having another point of access to control the thoughts of the masses via manipulation.
Plus it gives them access to info, given up, voluntarily, by the sheep.
Power and manipulation. And this tool is their willing ally.

Yes that's certainly true....it's all shallow ritualistic pompous maneuvering and manipulation...like a drug to get the population high.
