>>$600 direct payment to most Americans — but eliminate a $300 per week employment benefit favored by a bipartisan group of Senate negotiators.
Tell those who are unemployed that they’d be getting 2 $300 checka and they shouldn’t be able to double dip as they did when they were getting the $800 checks AND the $1200 one.
That would be $300 per week not just two $300 checks.
I hate to agree with Collins, my former Maine Senator. but I do.
But I’m retired, don’t need the personal check, although I’ll spend it.
No member of my family is unemployed but a lot here in Florida are.

I became unemployed in March 2020..was told that they had to let me go because I was highest paid (hard to believe that with the size of the checks I would get every 2 weeks)and they couldn’t afford my salary during the lockdown. I immediately applied for and received unemployment. No, I did not make more than when I was working. I have continuously applied for jobs since then and nothing. Nobody is hiring.
Tell me, am I supposed to be able to exist on a one-time $600 payment with no further unemployment funding? Perhaps your views would change if you were in my situation. Easy to sit there and call me a bum, but you have no idea what you’re talking about.
