Its time for mass civil disobedience against lawless lockdown orders
The Federalist ^ | 12/8/20 | John Daniel Davidson

For too long, mayors and governors and health officials across the country have overstepped their authority. Time to ignore them.

By now it should be obvious that elected state and local officials issuing COVID-19 lockdown and stay-at-home orders are just making things up as they go along.

Too often, their edicts aren’t based on science or data, but on a grotesque understanding of their own authority and infallibility. In the face of a worsening pandemic, they want to be seen doing something, taking bold action to stop the spread of the virus—that is, so long as it doesn’t hurt certain favored special interests.

I have been saying and writing that exact same thing.

We must revolt. The ignorant men and women who think we won’t think about their edicts and know what those same edicts portend must be out of their minds.

I will be a customer who desires at every meal I eat out to be one of those who prefer to eat with friends and family rather than alone.

This whole affair must be stopped. There is no science to support any of it.

g..m PhD in Science where logic is spoken and where the consequences of logical interaction are discussed.

Indeed. I wish I was there. I would defy it all and laugh at the ignorance of our traitors.

I wonder what my very silent brother would do? I bet continue his silence. It is not time to do that!

A huge percentage of affected business owners --using restaurants as an example--could easily unite and ignore these ridiculous dictates. Police would be ineffectual in enforcing, even if they wanted to do so---not likely.

Also advertise this ignoring of the laws and hopefully find enough good Americans willing to stand between the restaurants and the enforcement authorities. It's past time that the elected ones remember who they really work for.

Connecticut had a big jump in deaths for April and May. Through September, the state is up. Not that they make it easy to find the numbers.

I never wear a mask. I just go about my business and ignore the karens and other assorted crybabies.

If Ebola, with 70% mortality, spread as easily and rapidly as COVID, would these orders be legal and/or constitutional?

Whether or not they would be legal, they would at least be rational. Lockdowns, etc. would be a rational response to an Ebola outbreak in the USA. What we are seeing now, given the relative harmlessness of COVID, is not a rational response, even if it is legal (which, after a certain time frame in most cases, it isn't).

The problem is, THEY know who they really work for.

It's you who don't.

Every “health” official or police officer following “orders” on unconstitutional lockdowns should be hung along with their families and pets.

No better than SS Nazis.

I’ve preached the last few weeks in the very first church I ever pastored way back when in srminary. They have left the umc and are now an independent methodist church. Their pastor abruptly left about a month ago, and they’ve asked if I would fill in til they find another. (Pray for me/us)

In any case, our doors are open, we aren’t virtual, and about a 4th are masked. The rest aren’t. I think preaching masked is a bad thing for any hearing impaired in the congregation, but I don’t wear because I can’t breathe with it on. I’m not following the governor’s advisories, but he hasn’t ordered these latest.
I sense that everyone is thinking that we’re gonna have to learn to live with this.
I lost both parents between the last 2 Marches. Dad was bad with dementia and his death was slow and excruciating. Mom’s heart went and she was gone within minutes. I’ve told many that I’d far rather go as mom did.
For the old and comorbid to go could be a good shepherd calling them home.

We started with outdoor services for a few weeks, but one Sunday the temperature was going to be over 105 so it was decided that we’d move it indoors so the old people wouldn’t die of heat stroke. We’ve been inside ever since. The county is not enforcing orders and the city is apparently just ignoring any complaints from the neighborhood Karens.

So far not one Covid case has been traced to the church.

There’s a sign on the door advising people to wear masks and social distance. They don’t. A few wear masks. For the ones who are vulnerable or afraid, the services are live online.

Church is the only place I can go right now and feel normal.

Frankly I’d rather die than have to live with this lockdown fear indefinitely. As long as people are motivated by fear, this will never end.
