Under the state’s current plan, California is carved up into five regions: Southern California, San Joaquin Valley, San Fransisco Bay Area, Northern California and Greater Sacramento.
But three of the 11 counties that are part of Southern California — Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo — want to exit that region and form a new one: Central Coast.
Officials in the tri-county area announced they would submit that request with the state, provided ICU capacity exceeds 15% in the next three weeks, according to a news release from Ventura County.

As of Monday, the availability of beds in intensive care units was at 15% in Ventura County and 38% in Santa Barbara County, according to the latest data. In San Luis Obispo County, COVID-19 patients took up four of the area’s 53 ICU beds, though the data did not specify how many other beds were being used by those without the coronavirus.

Don’t blame them punishment for l.a. county’s bs
I don’t get it 🙄
I’m down with that. Why should we have to close our businesses if we don’t have the same COVID ICU numbers as Los Angeles?

Had similar issues in Ulster and Dutchess counties when Cuomo mixed Westchester with Hudson Valley. Westchester was a hotspot for covid.
Well, LA county seems to stretch all the way to Mojave now..When I was in LA , we considered San Diego south LA. Palm Springs/San Berdo was basically east LA. Only imaginary lines now separate these venues. It’s all concrete, buildings and houses.
I hear you, lived in San Diego for many years, family hated the drive to la.
But Inyo and Mono counties are far north beyond the town of Mojave. No "concrete, buildings, and houses" just several hundred miles of sagebrush, Joshua Trees, and mountains. It makes no sense for our very rural areas to be under the same rules as L.A.
You mean between lone pine and mono lake there is a whole lot of beautiful county
Misspelling name of major city in first line: FAIL!
Regards,
Mojave is only about 50 miles from Inyo County. About a 45 minute drive.
