Doubt Jimi Hendrix would have covered Joni. Who ever did?
Frankly, never heard Waits.
Count my wife among them. I'm a big Dylan fan but I am not allowed to play his records in her presence. Of course, she's heavily into Neil Diamond, Barry Manilow and Wayne Newton.
Must be another big difference between the two sexes.
I always liked the gravelly voices of artists like Dylan, Joplin, Tom Waits, Lucinda Williams, Tom Petty, etc. With me it's about the lyrics, the phrasing and the grittiness. That's Americana.
Women tend to favor smooth, velvety, polished voices and silly lyrics about seagulls and stuff like that.
Oh wow. I love Guns and Roses Knocking on Door. I had no idea Dylan wrote it. Thanks.
Lots of the guys with off key mediocre gritty voices who write angst filled songs about the imagined hardships of their soft lives are beloved by men who think it makes them authentic when relating to their idols pablum.
This syndrome would explain slovenly Chris Christie’s sad obsession with Bruce Springsteen.
Your wife may prefer Manilow to Dylan because Manilow sings on key and doesn’t have a voice that assaults the ears of any person who has a sense of pitch.
Thanks for your unenlightened reply lacking any semblance of intellectual acuity.
Thanks for the links!
Sure!

Ahhhhh, another childish reply of vile vulgarity...and acceptance of defeat.
Your limited intellect is duly noted. Again.
Now slither back under your rock...
Join Mitchell sucks
Here's another, by the best rock band working right now.
LOL!
You just keep digging your hole deeper and exposing your childish rants, vile & vulgar morals and limited intellect.
I think you're right, about the list of great Dylan covers being endless. In my brief search for some examples for this thread, I saw a lot more covers out there than I posted, and I'm sure there are a lot more that I didn't even encounter, in that initial quick search. It's also amazing how many completely different kinds of performers and artists cover his songs, in so many different styles of music, over so many decades.
Did you get a chance to see the Leon Russell cover of the song "It Takes A Lot To Laugh, It Takes A Train To Cry"? I really liked the way they did that in that youtube video clip, (which has a comment below it that says it was from the very first installment of "Soundstage" in 1971 ).
T post
(thanks post)
Yes, the Leon Russell cover was fantastic. What a band he put together!
