How To Decide A Very Close Election For Presidential Electors (Hawaii flipped from Nixon to Kennedy on DECEMBER 27th!)
Take Care Blog ^ | 10/20/20 | Jason Harrow

On November 8, the final unofficial vote total showed Kennedy winning Hawaii by 102 votes with 92,193 votes against Nixon's 92,091 votes. However, Nixon was declared the winner after more absentee ballots came in increasing his margin to 141 on November 17. On December 2, a recount of 37 precincts was ordered by Circuit Court Judge Ronald B. Jamieson and later ordered more precincts to be recounted. On December 16, Kennedy overtook Nixon in the popular vote and on December 27, Jamieson ruled that Kennedy had won by 115 votes.

However, Governor William F. Quinn had signed the certificate giving Hawaii's three electoral votes to the Republicans, but he later signed another certificate after the recount showed Kennedy winning. When Congress convened on January 3, 1961, Nixon, as president of the Senate had to preside over a joint session to certify the presidential election, Both certificates had arrived in Washington by the time Congress convened in January 1961, with then-Vice President Nixon charged with presiding over a joint session to certify his own election loss. Hearing no objections, Nixon ordered the Democratic certificate counted and ignored the accompanying Republican certificate, even though it also bore the governor's signature as required by federal law and certified Kennedy as the winner of Hawaii's electoral votes.

1960 electoral votes:
Kennedy-303
Nixon-209
The 3 votes from Hawaii were irrelevant.

No he knew already he lost that election and decided not to quibble over it and simply accept that Kennedy won rather than drag a meaningless battle past January.

God help us then if Pelosi becomes president, even if it is temporary.

This is not a close election. It is theft.

Absolutely.

I could not agree more.

From everything I have read, Biden took a shellacking.

I am continuing to pray for God’s deliverance from whatever the dems have in store for us.

I believe that if there is nobody to swear in on January 20th then the Speaker is the president. No temporary to it. It isn't a 25th Amendment kind of thing.

Yes, true...until the election controversy is resolved.

Which would be before 2024. If the office of president and vice-president is vacant then the Speaker is the president. Not temporarily but until the next election.

Not until the next presidential election necessarily.

Only until the present controversy is resolved. Could be January 21st, 2020, 2021, 2022, etc, etc.

Yes it would according to the presidential succession act. If the office of president and vice-president are vacant then the Speaker of the House becomes president.

Until the process of choosing and verifying the vote for president is completed. That could take an hour or a year. The SoH would only serve until the process is completed.
