Former FBI attorney Kevin Clinesmith, who falsified a document in the 2016 investigation into Russian interference in the presidential election, is seeking to avoid prison time.

Clinesmith’s attorneys filed a 48-page sentencing memorandum on Thursday, USA Today reports, in which they are asking for him to be sentenced to probation. The former lawyer acknowledged he committed a crime but did not intend to mislead investigators.

"Kevin Clinesmith made a grievous mistake,” his attorneys wrote, according to USA Today. “By altering a colleague's email, he cut a corner in a job that required far better of him. He failed to live up to the FBI's and his own high standards of conduct.”

Clinesmith pleaded guilty in August to falsifying a document to justify surveilling former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page as part of the 2016 probe.

That was no “MISTAKE” and his shyster lawyers know it as does he.

Give him maximum jail time, take away any security clearance forever (until Biden and his corrupt DOJ officials restore it), ban him from DOJ/FBI federal buildings, and fine his ass for costs and criminal fines.

The court should release him into my custody. I promise, he will be a changed man, never to falter again.

I’d give him a break if he starts naming names in the treasonous cabal that he worked with...

Well, duh.

The DOJ gets to seek what they want too.

Special Counsel John Durham Asks Judge to ‘Send a Message’ to Former FBI Lawyer; Sentence Him to Prison Despite Wife’s Pregnancy

(excerpt)

The government submitted its sentencing memorandum on Thursday in the case of disgraced former FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith, who has admitted that he altered an email that was used in a FISA warrant application to surveil former Trump campaign foreign policy adviser Carter Page.

U.S. Attorney John Durham, identified in the filing as Special Counsel, called for Clinesmith to be sentenced “at least between the middle and upper end of the applicable Guidelines range.”

Guess the court will decide.

I predict that once again a criminal, deep state democrat will get away with his crimes and get virtually no punishment.

Sentence Him to Prison Despite Wife’s Pregnancy

That would make for a good country song.

♪ Daddy was prison the day I was born ♫

Hope he isn’t sent to a Club Fed prison. General population sounds good. What’s a good Federal PMITA prison ?

Lompoc houses lots of white collar types.

But I'm thinking Pelican Bay, due to overcrowding concerns.

After everything... He changed a document how is that ever ok to do?

// “However, this hardship is a result of the defendant’s own decision to commit the crime for which he is being sentenced and is no different than any other defendant this Court sentences to a term of imprisonment.”

Clinesmith is the only person who has been charged as a result of Durham’s criminal investigation of the Russia investigation’s origins. The investigation began more than 18 months ago. // < insert —- >

"His own high standard"? WTF?

This low life shyster broke the law, and ruined many lives, including Carter Page and his family.

Without the FISA warrant none of this 4 year nightmare of hounding President Trump would have been able to persist.

This prick should get the max sentence, 5 years in the slammer, and never again get a security clearance
