There have been several studies showing both the efficacy of masks in a controlled laboratory environment and in real use. They all show a benefit to mask wearing.

Aerosol Filtration Efficiency of Common Fabrics Used in Respiratory Cloth Masks discusses results of testing on various fabrics. According to this, the least effective mask consists of a single layer of quilting cotton (9% particle blocking), and the most effective (97% particle blocking) is two layers, one of 600-count cotton (i.e. from expensive sheets) and the other a layer of chiffon (90% polyester, 10% spandex, from JoAnn Fabrics). I have been making masks with three layers, one of the chiffon.

The best protection is when everyone is wearing a mask correctly. Because the effectiveness of a mask is compounded when everyone in the area is wearing one.

Don't be that person who pulls the mask down below your nose as soon as you are out of sight of employees of whatever establishment you are in. This is one behavior that is driving the spread of Covid-19, which has been at record levels lately. Over the last 24 hour period, there have been 217,427 new US cases (the highest yet) and 2,812 new deaths (second highest after the previous 24 hour period).

Oh, and if you believe that masks can't stop the Covid-19 virus but they inhibit breathing, consider this: the virus is hundreds of times larger than oxygen molecules. In other words, holes small enough to block virus are sufficiently large enough to allow oxygen to pass.

Questions on your mask post..if the mask is stopping/blocking the virus..

It mean then the mask is collecting the virus..

so your mask would become a bio hazzard itself...

Are you using daily desposal paper mask?

If cloth mask are you sterilising daily?

How are you handling your mask ?

If the mask block any virus or germ.. then it is in the mask.. and you still handling is so still in contact will all the thing it collected as you handel it

(The virus doesn’t bounce off the mask.. the mask is a filter and what it filter is then in it and your still handling it)

Medical workers desposal of there protective gear.. and anyone handling or cleaning that Medical gear also follow bio hazard procedures

Hogwash! There are studies on both sides. Lots of studies showing no benefit. And others showing they help.

Happily, we don't need to debate this any longer. Lots of states and countries with strict requirements for masks and excellent compliance are seeing cases explode just as hard as places without masks. If masks worked, THEY WOULD WORK! Since they haven't....
