It’s reported that Mumbai Mike now wants to allow Indian H1Bs to work at all levels of the US Federal Government, reversing Trump’s ban.

Re: "It's reported that Mumbai Mike now wants to allow Indian H1Bs to work at all levels of the US Federal Government, reversing Trump's ban."

There was never a ban on H1Bs in the federal government.

Local, state, and federal agencies, all universities, and all non-profit research centers can hire as many H1Bs as they want.

They have NO quota. They are not even required to report how many they hire.

200,000 is the best estimate of how many have been hired.

That is 200,000 ABOVE the statutory quota of 510,000.

In addition, there are another 200,000 H1Bs off the books because they have formally applied and been sponsored for a Green Card.

They can work indefinitely in the USA until their Green Card application is adjudicated.

I forgot to mention the OPT work visa, which is a H1B for foreign students who just graduated from USA universities.

Trump increased OPT foreign workers from 125,000 under Obama to almost 225,000 today.

Trump has done nothing consequential to reduce the number of H1Bs, and Trump has almost doubled the number of OPTs.

Mike needs to get a real job...either selling tires, or running some Indian casino.
