“2001 A Space Odyssey” was a stupid movie. THe follow-up, “2010” made a little more sense but was technologically interesting.

What is the big mystery?
Somebody made them. Somebody put them up. Somebody took them down (they were seen).
Even the WHY is obvious. They want attention.
What might be interesting is that they are not identical. So, the later ones are probably copycats.
One thing the press messed up on is calling these metal sculptures ‘monoliths’
Lith literally means ‘stone’. A monolith is literally One Stone, as in one stone standing alone.
