It ‘glamorizes’ the element THEY choose to accept. Now, they ‘fit in’ because cool people are just like THEM...stupid, homely and dirty.
I ran into this in the 70’s at college. They thought if was cool to wear dirty clothes, don’t comb your hair, don’t iron your shirt, don’t wash, don’t use deodorant, don’t wear make-up and God forbid … don’t wear perfume!! It’s a raunchy Liberal thing with them. Here where I work at the University, we still have them... faculty too. It’s like a contest to see who can look most like a refugee. Sorry, some refugees look MUCH better, actually.
Those girls would glare at me in the ladies room when I combed my hair or fixed my lipstick. I thought the costume party was over in ‘72...but I guess not!
