Two words:

Medical exemption.

A lot of places will not make allowances for medical exemptions. Also, a lot of people (not the freeper type) don't LIKE making a fuss in places. I'm willing to do so, but a lot of good people aren't like me.

Actually they do have to allow medical exemptions. They are in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Plus they are forbidden to ask what you have. I wear a mask now that it’s cooler, but during the Alabama summer I would face plant because the humidity kept me from getting enough air through the soggy mask. Only had one store question me and they backed off when I mentioned the ADA.
