For the second week in a row, a new, slower rate has been reported - 6 miles last week (Thanksgiving Holiday) and 7 miles the week prior. We had been running 10 miles per week, for a few months before the election.

Part of the reason might be that there is a higher proportion of tough terrain and slower-going segments (mountains in Arizona and California, Flood Control Levee Wall in Texas). Another contributor might be that as projects complete, fewer crews are working at the same time. We may have already crested our peak rate of construction, for this batch of funded projects (738 miles), as over half the total mileage (56%) is already completed. I doubt politics has slowed the rate, but that might be possible too.

Five weeks remain in the year, to complete the remaining 35 miles, to reach the 450 mile year end goal. It seems still quite doable, but they would have to make up for the Christmas & New Year holidays.
