I once saw part of an interview of a policeman who patrolled the Autobahn.At one point he said that some of the accidents he responded to were so bad that the occupants couldn't even be recognized as human. I kid you not!

Sparked a memory: My ship made a port call to Kiel, Germany for the city’s annual festival & sailing regatta. While walking about with shipmates — in search of good German beer and unattached Fräuleins, of course — witnessed two European clown cars with several pax in both vehicles combined collide head on at about 45mph on a surface street. Max mangled metal, severe injuries, and a lifelong bad memory. Germans certainly “feel the need for speed,” but at what a cost.
