“if we do have the server(s), won’t it make any wiping of the GA voting machines a moot point?”

It depends on the level of data stored on such a foreign server. Does that foreign server just store software updates used for the voting machines or summarized data from each machine or an exact duplicate of all data that exists on all voting machines in a region? They seem to summarize data and I am not sure they preclude the need for audits requiring access to voting machine data.

We also don’t know how easy it is to tell if a voting machine or a foreign server’s data has been adjusted or tampered with. Who is to say an audit of a voting machine or even a foreign server will show exactly how the people voted? Maybe what it shows now includes adjustments previously made.

One would think there is a way to record and archive the data stored on a voting machine at various points of time, e.g. upon polls being closed. I am an engineer but I really don’t fully understand how these systems work.
