A Republican candidate is hanging onto a single-digit lead in Iowa's 2nd Congressional District after a recount in a race that will help determine the size of Democrats' majority in the House of Representatives.
Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks had just six more votes than Democrat Rita Hart after the recount wrapped up Saturday in Clinton County, which was the last of the district's 24 counties to reports its results, the Iowa City Press-Citizen reports.
Clinton County also is where Hart lives on a Wheatland farm and served as an educator and state senator.

The piece is written as if to deminish the victory and side the winner as somehow being presumptuous in declaring victory with a lead of just 6 votes.

That gives Trump another State vote if it goes to the House to decide. I think the State legislatures will step up before safe harbor day and put Trump over the 270 he needs to win outright. If they don’t, they will be pariahs the rest of there lives.

Everyone KNOWS if you are the Republican candidate, you NEED at least a 600,000 vote lead to overcome the Dem “trunk votes.”
If the Democrat had won by 6 points, the media would be declaring it a resounding victory and would claim the Democrats have a “clear mandate.”
I live in Illinois. DEMs always win squeakers here. The election remains open while they “find” votes. That is the word they use. I always wonder where they are finding them - in cars, broom closets, trash cans?
