Are you sure about a paper ballot ALWAYS being printed from a Dominion machine and thus available for hand recount? Sidney asserts otherwise. Seems like it would be easy to prove/disprove by asking voters if they handed in a paper ballot after they filled stuff in on the machine.

98.
It was further reported in 2019 that the new Dominion Voting Machines in Georgia “[w]ith Georgia’s current voting system, there’s no way to guarantee that electronic ballots accurately reflect the choices of voters because there’s no paper backup to verify results”

Tangential rant:
If the Dominion machines PRINT ballots after the voter makes their selection on the screen, why the hell are they needed at all? What practical efficiency and voter security are gained by having an expensive, hackable machine involved in our elections if the end result is still a piece of paper with some bubbles filled in? This just doesn’t make sense. What am I missing, other than massive kickbacks from Dominion in the pockets of various secretaries of state?

If you didn't get a printed ballot then your vote wasn't finished.

Georgia shopped for a system that had a paper trail. Our old Diebold system used a "smart card". So we were getting rid of that and insisted on having a system that produced a paper trail that could be audited after the fact. Each voter should have handled their own ballot and checked it before turning it in to the poll worker to be scanned.

What practical efficiency and voter security are gained by having an expensive, hackable machine involved in our elections if the end result is still a piece of paper with some bubbles filled in?

As I said, Georgia insisted on the paper trail so the voter could see their selections before turning in their ballot. The paper ballot could always be later counted to verify whether or not the "count" was hacked. In Georgia's 2020 election, we verified that the "count" was not hacked. It really is that simple but here we are.

I caught that too. In Georgia the machine prints a ballot. It contains text showing how you voted and a bar code that holds the votes. The bar code is what the tabulators actually read. There is no way for a voter to verify the accuracy of the bar code.

I early voted at the Lynwood Park location mentioned on page 35 of the complaint. When I voted and approached the tabulators they asked me to read the first letter printed below the bar code, then directed me to the tabulator on the left. Someone here said that was probably to reflect the right precinct, that the tabulators could be programmed differently. Maybe so, but what if they were programmed differently according to how you voted?
