Don Trump Jr. is entitled to his opinion, but he holds no office. What did he have to do with this project?
Was he against it because it may destroy areas populated with Salmon?
He’s against it because he likes to fish in that area. Along with bunches of other very wealthy people from Boston, New York, and DC. The only thing they like more than fishing in Bristol Bay is telling Alaskans how to manage our state so it looks all perfect when they make their annual visit.
Since when did the “chance” of something happening keep us from doing it? The engineering protections that would be in place at Pebble would drastically minimize the chance of devastation to a small area of these headwaters. We’re talking about a relatively small development footprint in an enormous area. If we’re scared of a “chance,” we should never get in a car, plane, elevator... Should we “trust the science” or not this time??
IMO if you don’t live here, your opinion doesn’t count/matter.
Having benefited from actually reading the entire article, the answer to your question is YES.........You might want to try it...LOL!
“As a sportsman who has spent plenty of time in the area I agree 100%,” Trump Jr. said in a tweet Tuesday. “The headwaters of Bristol Bay and the surrounding fishery are too unique and fragile to take chances with.”
Trump Jr. was responding to a tweet from Nick Ayers, former chief of staff to Vice President Mike Pence, who also opposes the project. Ayers called on President Trump to direct the Environmental Protection Agency to block the mining project.
“A Canadian company will unnecessarily mine the USA’s greatest fishery at a severe cost,” Ayers said. “This should be stopped and I believe @POTUS will do so!”
